Lending more credence to the increasingly popular "hygiene hypothesis" of asthma and allergies is this report. To summarize:
These results, the researchers conclude, "are consistent with recent experimental evidence which suggests that exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis may reduce the risk of developing asthma."

There seems to be more support for this hypothesis (see below). It tends to dispel the "germ myth" that most of us are under. The cause of most of our illness is not the actual bug that does the damage, but our weakened immune system, which is not capable of fighting the infection. Normally proper diet, rest, reducing toxic exposures, emotional and spiritual health are necessary to optimize the immune system.
