Patients would rather spend precious time with their
doctor talking about their condition and
hearing about ways to stay healthy instead
of receiving a physical examination or getting a prescription.
According to the results, the researchers identified
three areas that characterize what patients want from their doctors: communication,
partnership and health
promotion.
The vast majority of respondents (more than three
quarters) wanted visits with their doctor to focus on:
Fewer wanted an examination (63%) and only a quarter
wanted a prescription.
According to the authors, this study is one of the
largest to date to look at what patients want from their doctors.
