Malaria Drug Possibly Responsible For Soldiers Killing Their Wives
Posted by: Dr. Mercola

Three Fort Bragg soldiers suspected of killing their wives this summer were given an anti-malaria drug associated with aggression and mental problems.

What drug were the soldiers given and what are the symptoms?

Some of the symptoms of Lariam (also called mefloquine) include:

  • Aggression
  • Depression
  • Paranoia
  • Hallucinations
  • Suicidal thinking

The Army and the Food and Drug Administration have both approved the drug. The families and friends of the soldiers are questioning the safety of Lariam and the possible role it might have played in the deaths of the soldier's wives.

While this report is not irrefutable proof that the drug caused these three soldiers to kill their wives, it certainly does make one wonder. This was not reported in the initial media exposure that this story received.
