Men who take zinc supplements may more than double their
risk of prostate cancer.
Zinc supplements are promoted for preventing or easing cold
symptoms, among other benefits. However, in men zinc builds
up in the prostate gland, which plays a role in the production
of semen.
Prostate cancer, the second-leading cancer among U.S. men,
kills close to 30,000 men a year.
