Researchers have developed a lighted jellyfish lure and camerasystem that will allow them to view life in the deep sea withoutthe disturbances of light and sounds common with other researchmethods.
Traditional research methods often disturb the sea creatures’natural habitat with lights, motors and electric fields. Thenew system, called "Eye in the Sea," can detectanimals when they give off bioluminescent light and recordtheir actions without the animal noticing.
Researchers hope the device will allow a more complete pictureof life in the deep sea.
