Researchers have developed a lighted jellyfish lure and camera
system that will allow them to view life in the deep sea without
the disturbances of light and sounds common with other research
methods.
Traditional research methods often disturb the sea creatures’
natural habitat with lights, motors and electric fields. The
new system, called "Eye in the Sea," can detect
animals when they give off bioluminescent light and record
their actions without the animal noticing.
Researchers hope the device will allow a more complete picture
of life in the deep sea.
