MedImmune
Inc. will soon launch its nasal spray flu vaccine, the first
needle-free flu vaccine, surrounded by a $25 million direct-to-consumer
marketing campaign, the largest ever for a vaccine.
The nasal vaccine, called FluMist, contains a live virus
while the standard shot contains a dead virus. The live virus
could pose a threat to those with weakened immune systems,
so FluMist is approved only for healthy people between the
ages of 5 and 49.
