Avocados Bigger Than Your Head!

Naturally grown giant avocados, descended from an ancient tree in South Africa, will soon be available in Britain.

The avocados are eight times larger than regular avocadoes, or about the size of a watermelon. Just one giant avocado will be enough to feed six people and will cost about one-third less, pound for pound, than normal avocados.

Avocados, whether giant or regular, are incredibly nutritious. Many people have been scared away from eating them due to their higher fat content, but as many readers of this newsletter know, fat is not the enemy it is made out to be!

Avocados are a nutrient dense food rich in folate, dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin E, riboflavin and vitamin B6. They also contain monounsaturated fat, which is easily burned for energy, and one avocado has more than twice as much potassium as a banana.

Many people need more raw fat in their diet and avocados are a great source, especially for protein Metabolic Types. So the next time you’re making a salad, an avocado makes a healthy and smart addition. They’re also great eaten alone as a snack or as part of a meal.
