A Japanese woman who was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest person has died of pneumonia at the age of 114.

A U.S. woman who turned 114 on November 16 is now believed to hold the title.

Japan’s average life expectancy, 85 years for women and 78 years for men, is the longest in the world and is often attributed to their traditional diet, which is rich in fish and green vegetables.

This is not surprising as Japanese women are the longest lived population in the world, with their life expectancy at about 85 years. What is surprising is that we don't have a large contingency reaching the suspected maximum biological limit of 120 years. Earlier this year the oldest American man died at 113.

However, as we all know none of us are getting out of this world alive, but by applying the principles I outline in this newsletter you can not only leave quite close to your theoretical maximum, but you can live in full control of your mental and physical capacities. As people age, many will begin to suffer the consequences of poor lifestyle and eating habits, such as Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s is an epidemic, and it will continue to worsen. All the genetic engineering and nanotechnology in the world will not overcome the ravages that a poor diet has on our health.

One of the most important things you can to do slow down the aging process is to get a handle on your grain and sugar intake. Controlling insulin is one of the most potent physical ways to maximize your lifespan through high-quality health. Check out my nutrition plan for some great advice on how to keep your insulin levels under control.
