Questions Arise on U.S. Drug Policy

Studies have shown that spending on prescription drugs is rising rapidly in the United States. One reason is demographics. The senior citizens are one of the fastest growing parts of the population who tend to become more chronically ill and require more drugs.

Another reason is all the new and expensive drugs that come into the United States and how they are advertised. More money was spent in 2000 on advertised drugs than on advertising Pepsi. So the question arises, are U.S. citizens paying more toward the discovery of new drugs than citizens of other countries or are they paying for marketing?

Most developed countries have a government body that regulates the price of drugs and the profits of pharmaceutical companies, however the United States does not. Because of this, the United States is exploring ways to subsidize drug costs for all senior citizens.

One way, which international countries already have, is to establish a limited or essential list of medicines. The lists include drugs that are first studied for clinical efficacy and safety and then often for relative cost or cost effectiveness.

It is said in the article that the United States allows ads in all media that are encouraging patients to talk to their doctors about trying all the new brand names of medicines. Drug companies spent over $3 billion in 2003 to advertise their drugs to consumers.

The sad thing is, pharmaceutical company spending on consumer advertising is only a small proportion of the promotional budget, most of which is still targeted at physicians, which exceeds $15 billion every year.

Fortunately, you do have other options to reduce your drug expenses.

I highly suggest you read my new book presenting my entire dietary and health program that took me over two decades to develop and has literally helped thousands of patients at my respected clinic, The Optimal Wellness Center, recover from disease, optimize their weight, increase their daily energy and live longer.

As you’ll see, this book costs considerably less than the money you will spend on many single prescriptions. I am guaranteeing (for life, as you will read) that the straightforward but profoundly effective program in my book will improve your health dramatically, so you can avoid illness and therefore drugs in the first place. In other words, your small investment in my new book will save you thousands of dollars or more in drug and health care costs over the course of your life ... not to mention improving the quality and length of your life.

Although drugs will in no way, shape or form ever treat the underlying cause of disease and your goal should always be to find an alternative that effectively addresses the cause, there are times when you may have to, or choose to, use drugs as a temporary Band-Aid. If this is the case then avoid paying the high United States prices and get all your prescriptions at Canadian drug prices, safely and securely. I have researched this, and this drug prescription Web site is an exceptionally secure, easy-to-use site for your prescription fulfillment, and it offers prescription drugs for up to 80 percent less than you will pay here in the United States!

This site, FillMyScripts, ships to all 50 U.S. states (plus Canada), and is staffed by physicians and pharmacists who will review your prescription and even follow up with your physician if necessary. FillMyScripts offers both brand name and generic drugs that are FDA equivalent to the drugs you’ll get in the United States (and are made by the same companies making them here), and again you’ll pay a fraction of the cost.
