United States Has Highest STD Rate

According to several reports, half of all young Americans will contract a sexually transmitted disease by the age of 25 because they are either ignorant about protection options or are simply too embarrassed to ask.

Another report revealed that approximately 18.9 new cases of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among teens aged 15 to 24 years old occurred in the year 2000. The three diseases accounting for 88 percent of new cases were genital warts, trichomoniasis, (STD caused by a parasite) and Chlamydia (bacterial STD).

Researchers said that sex education and information on condoms are critical to preventing STDs.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization reported that teens 15 and older in the United States have the highest rate of STDs in any industrialized country.

These alarming statistics only reinforce the benefits of abstinence or at the very least safe sex. Other studies have shown that teen intercourse has also been linked to cases of depression and suicide.

The emotional freedom technique (EFT) may be very helpful to teens who are having problems with sexual addictions or negative self-images that may be leading them to have sex before they are emotionally ready. For information on how to use EFT, you can check out my free EFT manual. You can also look at my EFT Series on video and DVD for further positive affirmation methods.
