An outbreak of chickenpox in a Lake Oswego elementary school caught health officials by surprise considering 18 children infected had already been vaccinated for the disease.
The conclusions from this study suggested that the immunity of the vaccination wears off over time.
Another outbreak discovered at a different school suggested the need for another booster shot after five years. Experts still believe the chickenpox vaccine is effective and that the chances of inoculated children getting the chickenpox are rare and tend to be mild cases.
Results from the Lake Oswego school outbreak revealed 43 percent of the unvaccinated children came down with the chickenpox, compared to the 12 percent who had received shots. A report found that the effectiveness of the immunity dropped from 97 percent to 84 percent after one year.
Public health officials claimed the Lake Oswego school provided them with a good starting off point on how well the vaccine works.
The measuring tools used to evaluate the study included health records from the school, a questionnaire and phone calls to the parents of each child involved with the outbreak.

Now that we have a report of an outbreak of chickenpox among highly vaccinated schoolchildren, which indicates the decreasing effects of immunity over the course of five years, incredibly enough, public health officials are now pushing for chickenpox vaccine boosters.
I have already posted prior studies showing that the chickenpox vaccine works less than half the time and has little value considering most older children are already immune to chickenpox. Despite these findings, the traditional medical community continues to instill fear and use scare tactics to convince parents that their child needs this worthless vaccine.
It is amazing how they are so oblivious to the real reasons why children with chickenpox die.
Fortunately, you dont have to involve yourself with this nonsense and can legally avoid immunizations even if your state doesnt allow you a philosophical opinion.
