A
review of more than 3,300 cases found acupuncture in the wrist relieved
vomiting and nausea in patients after surgery. Stimulating the pericardium,
or P6, acupuncture point on the wrist reduces the nausea that affects
about 80 percent of the people who have had anesthetics.
Moreover, patients who received P6 acupuncture were less likely
by about 28 percent to feel nausea than those using placebo methods
or medications.
In fact, acupuncture--the process of inserting fine needles into
the body at various points--was found to be just as effective as
routine medications in various trials.
