Moreover, nutritional counseling on an individualized basis seemed to work more efficiently than simply recommending supplemental protein-packed nutritional drinks.
Patients involved in the study were divided into three groups:
The study confirmed that individualized nutritional counseling during radiotherapy was a far better treatment for patients than the other two options (as well as in the intervention phase and the three-month follow-up period). And, compared to the other two groups, anorexia, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea were lower in the dietary counseling group. Researchers noted they were surprised with the impact nutrition had on the improvement of quality of life and in reducing symptoms and suffering.

It is shocking that these physicians are so clueless and were actually surprised that diet would have an impact on the treatment of cancer. But that is what we are fighting against: Profound ignorance at the deepest levels. Let me assure you that it is ignorance. It is not as if most physicians understand nutrition and are in some conspiracy to hide the truth from you.
Folks, nearly all physicians simply don't know or understand the most basic and foundational nutrition concepts. This includes supposed diet "gurus" like Dr. Agatson who wrote the South Beach Diet and is taking statin drugs to lower his own high cholesterol level. Nearly any physician who came down with cancer would not even consider using nutrition as one of the most powerful tools in treating their cancer.
Fortunately, you don't have to follow their blind lead and you can take a giant step ahead of the game by following the recommendations in the lead article in this issue.
