New Diseases That Keep Drug Companies Rolling

New DiseasesSince drug companies are increasingly creating new, fictitious diseases to increase their pharmaceutical sales, such as General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Mike Adams decided to pitch in and help them out with this humorous article that classifies normal human behaviors as diseases, including:

  • Refrigerator Door Disease (RDD) -- standing in front of the refrigerator with the door wide open, staring blankly
  • Language Obfuscation Disorder (LOD) -- strikes mostly doctors, and causes its victims to speak in unintelligible medi-babble
  • Obsessive Hosiery Dislocation Disorder (OHDD) -- a frantic household search for the other sock of any given sock pair
  • Commerce Anxiety Disorder (CAD) -- heightened worry over whether your credit card will be declined at the cash register
  • Repetitive Remote Disorder (RDD) -- rapid channel surfing of cable television using a remote control device
  • Obsessive Wardrobe Change Disorder (OWCD) -- incessant changing of clothing before a planned event
  • Obsessive Disobedience Disorder (ODD) -- a persistent distrust of schoolteachers, government officials, law enforcement figures, and other authority figures (A "real" disorder currently being discussed by those in the psychiatric community!)
  • Repetitive Pocket Searching Syndrome (RPSS) -- repeated searching of one's own pockets following the misplacement of some small item
  • Ultraviolet Light Tanning Dependent (UVLTD) -- drives victims to repeatedly sunbathe (another "real" disease according to some in organized medicine!)
  • Traffic Light Anticipation Disorder (TLAD) -- those who think red lights indicate the driver should allow their vehicle to slowly creep forward into the intersection, sort of like a green light, but in slow motion

Dr. Mercola Dr. Mercola's Comments:

If you've enjoyed the other fun articles written by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, that I've posted, you'll get a kick out of this latest one. It has quite the ring of truth to it -- two of the ridiculous fake diseases he lists are even actually being seriously considered as "real"!

I suspect I am preaching to the choir here as even many of the contemporary comedians have skits on this fact now.

The sad reality is that drug companies invest a considerable amount of their resources in inventing new diseases, which just happen to have an expensive drug solution that will typically need to be taken for the rest of your life. How convenient -- for the drug companies, not you, as they create annuities that will even further increase their already bloated bottom line.

The most classic example here of a successful disorder is that of cholesterol. The drug companies have bought the "expert panelists" who set the national guidelines that futher the unnecessary use of statin drugs for over 99 percent of the population.

Always remember that the drug companies are trying to sell you something. They're not really concerned whether you're sick, well, get healthy, or stay ill; they just want to get you to buy their products. And they will do whatever it takes to do that, including selling you cures for diseases that don't even exist.
