Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a simple new procedure that has provided symptom relief, and in some cases remission, for people suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) and other debilitating diseases.
This relief and possible remission is accomplished without the use of any of the 50 drugs available to MS patients.
EFT is one of the few approaches available that aims at the emotional causes of the disease. This is not a new idea, as even the MS Society acknowledges that stress and emotional upset can make symptoms worse for some multiple sclerosis sufferers.
However, until EFT, it has been difficult to do much about emotional causes because conventional psychotherapy has proven inadequate to this purpose.
EFT's growing popularity as a rapid and effective approach for almost any emotional problem has given it a unique status in the healing field. With it, new possibilities open up for physical healing as emotional causes can now be effectively addressed.
Here is a synopsis of an actual case where a therapist used EFT to correct her own vertigo issue and, as a result, sent her multiple sclerosis into remission.
How EFT resolved an emotional issueand achieved MS remission as a "side benefit."
Sue Campbell, a practicing psychotherapist, had been having great success using EFT with clients for a number of years. Following a personal diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, Sue began using EFT to deal with some of its debilitating symptoms.
Among her symptoms were severe bouts of imbalance that felt like someone was pulling the rug out from underneath her. She had come to rely on the use of a cane to get around and needed someone to lean upon in order to safely leave the house.
She used EFT on the symptoms of her vertigo and imbalance and, despite her success using EFT with clients, Sue did not gain relief from these symptoms. This was her clue that there were probably unresolved emotional issues feeding her physical symptoms.
One day, Sue's physical therapist (PT) took her for a walk to observe her gait. The PT asked her to describe exactly what she was experiencing. Sue felt panicky as she struggled with her compromised sense of balance.
She was surprised to realize that all of the physical symptoms she was describing were associated with fear. According to the theories of EFT, Sue's vertigo and imbalance were the way that fear was expressing itself in her body. Sue was uplifted by this realization, commenting, "Since EFT works beautifully on fear, once I recognized that, I knew I was almost cured."
Sue was scheduled to return to the PT in two days. In that time she focused on addressing this fear that was so intense it was showing up in her body as vertigo and imbalance. After several hours of consistent application of EFT, it became clear that she was thrown out of balance by the fear of standing on her own and changing the way she worked with clients.
EFT worked. Two days later, Sue returned to her physical therapist under her own power. She carried the cane but it never touched the floor. The PT was shocked, and Sue was thrilled. Thereafter, the cane remained in the closet.
Sue followed up with a visit to her neurologist and reported, "I have been feeling so absolutely healthy for so many months now, that my neurologist declared (bolstered by an MRI in my favor) that the MS is in remission. "In remission" is his term for it--mine is: It's gone!"
Please note that, in addition to improving multiple sclerosis symptoms, EFT has been a consistently effective healing tool for hundreds of other physical, mental and emotional ailments.
