MandalaString art has become the source of a whole new wave of craft innovations. The most beautiful and dramatic use of colored thread as an artistic medium is known as Mandala geometric thread design. This website can help you get started making lovely and intricate art projects.

"Mandala", a word used in the practice transcendental meditation, refers to a visual pattern that draws a viewer's attention into its center. Mandalas were originally great paintings of objects arranged in circles, the perfect symmetry minimizing unwanted distractions.

Similarly, Mandala geometric thread design creates patterns with a set of points, called vertices, carefully spaced on a closed curve, such as a circle or an ellipse, and connected with straight lines according to a strict numerical progression. The result is an impressive finished thread design, which creates curved patterns out of straight lines.

Only minimal tools are needed, allowing for a quick start and rapid progress to a finished project.
