Does motion sickness interfere with your family travel plans ... or with your car's cleanliness? Each time you travel you hope it will be different ... and that nobody will succumb to the queasiness ... dizziness ... and vomiting associated with motion sickness.
Maybe you're the one with motion sickness. You might feel a bit better if you face forward in the vehicle and keep your head still ... it's tricky to do while refereeing the kids in the backseat.
Your other option is to try to distract yourself from queasiness by listening to the radio or talking. Motion sickness medication can help temporarily but often leaves you groggy -- and it's just not an option if you're the driver.
Anyone with motion sickness generally dreads getting in a plane, train or automobile. And it's really debilitating for children who are often frightened and embarrassed by the sudden onset of their symptoms. And kids come to associate these gross symptoms with travel ... which should, instead, be a fun adventure.
EFT Balances Your Energy System and Calms Your Motion Sensors
According to WebMD.com, motion sickness occurs when the different parts of your body that sense movement send different and confusing signals to the brain. You can use drugs to interfere with those confusing signals.
Or you can take the drug-free route and use Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). This process will balance the subtle energies of your body and, in turn, balance your body's motion sensors. In about 80 percent of cases, this will calm your symptoms of motion sickness and allow you to finally enjoy the pleasures of travel.
Anyone can learn the basics of EFT and it can be self-applied (usually in minutes). What's more ... children easily embrace EFT and they seem to enjoy the satisfaction of taking charge of their own symptoms by applying EFT themselves.
EFT Eliminates Child's Motion Sickness
You can read the entire story on the EFT Web site.
EFT practitioner Darlene Wade was so confident in the process that she told her client she knew that EFT would "cure" her son Jason's motion sickness (Jason's name has been changed to protect privacy.). She normally didn't use such absolute language but after hearing about Jason's problem whenever he was in a car or plane, she knew that EFT was the answer.
So Darlene met with 7-year-old Jason and his mom. Jason consistently vomited in the car and on airplanes and they always traveled with motion sickness bags.
Jason talked about how he felt and Darlene did EFT with Jason for his "dizzy feeling," "sick feeling" and "throw-up feeling." These are the three issues that Jason associated with his carsickness. After the EFT, Jason's anxious feelings disappeared and he said he wasn't upset about his carsickness anymore.
While in Darlene's office, Jason no longer had an emotional reaction when thinking about being carsick. But the real test would be their car ride home ... a drive that would inevitably make Jason vomit.
Even though they collapsed the problem in the office, sometimes it will re-occur when you're in the real situation. This doesn't mean that EFT didn't work, just that you need to do the procedure on the real thing.
Before they left the office, Jason showed his mom how to do EFT, which reinforced the technique in his own mind. Darlene also gave him a drawing of the EFT points to tap on himself if he felt his symptoms return while they were driving.
After three minutes of EFT in the car, the motion sickness was gone... it was as if it never happened.
The next day Jason's mother dropped in on Darlene at her office and exclaimed, "It worked!" She told Darlene about their trip home after Jason's appointment. When they got in the car to drive home, Jason was sitting in the back seat and his mother watched him in the rear view mirror as he began to turn pale ... his first stage of motion sickness.
Without any prompting, Jason sat back in his seat and began rubbing the first EFT point for about two minutes. Then he sat up in his seat, more alert ... and tapped on seven EFT points. This took about three minutes.
Jason's mother reported, "After this one round it was like he returned to where he was prior to the motion sickness and promptly complained about his siblings taking his balloon as if nothing had happened!" That evening Jason taught his mother how to do EFT.
