Spotlight on Presidential Candidate Ron Paul

U.S. presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-Texas) calls himself a “Constitutionalist” who swears to uphold the Constitution against all enemies, domestic and foreign. It is his stand on health care that should get your attention.

Dr. Paul believes that, though the U.S. Constitution is imperfect, “if you have a contract you should follow it, if you disagree with part of that contract you should change it in the proper manner … but ignoring it is the worst thing you can do.”

If you aren’t yet familiar with Dr. Paul’s political philosophies and platform -- or if you are and want to know more -- this video of Ron Paul in discussion with Google executive Elliot Schrage (as part of the company‘s Candidates@Google series) will get you up to speed.

Dr. MercolaDr. Mercola's Comments:
Ron Paul is one of the few physicians serving in Congress, and one of even fewer Congressmen who are trying to decrease government involvement in the field of health care. He is a constituionalist and seeks to minimize big abuse government, so needless to say he is not very powerful in many corporate circles.  However there is an absolute groundswell of public support for him, especially for people who believe in freedom and the principles the US was founded on.

This video is an upfront commentary from Dr. Paul himself, and, judging from the enthusiastic reception he received from the Google audience, he is going to continue to stir up the presidential debate.

Dr. Paul is single-handedly trying to restore America to the great country it once was, but don’t take my word for it. Check out the video and decide for yourself.

The mass media does everything they can to ignore Ron Paul. If he does get press,it usually to ridicule him. I hate what this country has become.

wow, not sure what to think..I have been a huge supporter of Ron Paul and was surprised to hear some sources reporting he is a freemason/33rd degree.

Has anyone else heard that? There is a lot of photographic evidence of him performing masonic secret handshakes. Google Ron Paul freemason and all kinds of things come up.

At this point in Doctors Paul approach , he has to be prioritizing his piorities.  If you listen to him carefully, Doctor Paul is  very much for health freedom, including the alternative life style.  He chooses freedom of  choice of life.  He is a positive, truthful, free spirited soul.

If Doctor Paul does not get into the oval office and stay there, at least, 12 years, you and I will be living jailed lives, without any choices of any kind.  Most of us will be living on the streets, that is, if we are still alive, because of illness' poverity, and zero protection from enviornment, and more.

He is our last chance for true survival.

Thank you Doctor Mercola for bringing forth this  wonderful flim.  I had made my choice months ago to vote this great man into office.

I think even Dr paul would not want to stay in office twelve years against constitutional amendment... he is for upholding the constitution remember ? :) although I think he will try to appeal the 16th.

There is an inverse relationship between Liberty and taxes... the more of one you have the less of the other (to an extent) . In the coming years, if paul is not elected taxes will grow... we will become more of a democracy and less of a republic... minority rights will be infringed even more than they are being now... and the masses will still be as easily lead ever into the direction propagandists deem

The greatest impact he will have on freedom i Believe is economically. most people don't realize how important they are intertwined. We are trying to police the world and it is unsustainable... we have something like over a half million military spread throughout the globe. Friendship, and trading with all.. entangling alliances with none.

Yes, Dr. Paul is the only one to vote for.  It's amazing that so many people don't know about him.  They don't read and he's not talked about that often in the news.  Talk him up to everyone you know.

This country will continue to go to H___ in a handbasket if the wicked witch of NY, Obama, Edwards, Romney get in there.  Kucinich and Biden may be ok.

150 million Americans take Dietary supplements, the rest use other products like make-up and soap.  I found this web site ( www.shaklee.net/ronpaul2008  that promotes Ron Paul, donates to grassroots organizations like www.ronpaul.meetup.com (one of the meet-up groups is getting $50 this month) and wants to help other grass-roots volunteers get the word out.  I purchased some stuff from them and couldn't be happier.  Safe cleaning products were my wife's favorite!!

We need to support Ron Paul and we need to support volunteers!!  Get the word out!!

This is the fight of our lives!

It all sounds too good to be true. I am NOT living in the US and I am not a US citizen. But it seems to me that hardly anyone knows the truth about your country. It might be a good start to look at http://gemworld.com/USAvsUS It might be an eye opener. The Bush gang has so much to hide that nobody who is not involved with them has to be kept out of government. The legal seat of the US federal government is still Philadephia but it went bankrupt in 1937 and was taken over by a private corporation with the name United States of America. Bush is  at present its CEO. Before you get angry check it out first - you will be surprised. But the information might not be easy to find!

Yes, Ron Paul is the real deal. There are literally thousands of pages of content authored by Dr. Paul all available on the web. There are hundreds of videos and interviews.

Do a little bit of research, especially into Dr. Paul's voting record and you'll quickly see that he is one of the good guys.

He's been preaching the same "return to constitutional standards" from the start. he does not flip flop EVER and he is often compared to Thomas Jefferson and the founding fathers in general and for good reason. He's also a highly respected 10 Term congressmen.  Yes - 10 terms.

Have a look at the gigantic exploding support he is gaining and all the meetup groups that are forming all across the country

- ronpaulmania.com/massive-ron-paul-grassroots-effort-underway-thanks-to-meetup

People all over the country are jumping in to support him and it's not costing the campaign a dime. The other candidates couldn't buy that kind of support even if they wanted to and boy do they want to.

Ron Paul's message is a simple one. It's one of Liberty, Truth and Freedom just as the founding fathers intended. Ron Paul wan't to restore the constitution and he gets attacked for it. That alone should wake everyone up.

The Ron Paul Revolution is growing - be a part of it!

The problem with Mr. Paul and with many Americans is that they hold on to a psuedo religious belief that the free market and the american constitution are an unquestionable solution to the world's ills.  They look back to a past to some imaginary perfect America as an example of what the world should be like but they forget their own history.  They ofcourse forget the slave trade was an example of the free market. They forget about the rober barons who built gigantic fortunes, exploiting resorces without control or constraint, slaugtering the buffalo to the point of extinction and nearly wiping out the plains indians for the rail roads (as only one example).  Ofcourse Mercola's politics always look to protect his own empire but his opposition to socalized medicine seems misplaced.  It is a fact that for nearly every western country with socialized medicine people live longer and spend less of their GNP on health care than the USA.  Does Mercola really care about your health.

I find him genuine and a breath of fresh air .I like his idea to do away with the IRS and the Federal Reserve. I may support him he is the only one i see that makes sense  and I am no Republican but people can change parties and do. He is not a real phoney cut taxes and spend man but very precise and intelligent. Thanks for your comment C Ryan DO

even if paul should somehow get elected to president he still has to deal with congress and nothing would get done just like always..being president does not mean anything without congressional approval of his polices and fat chance of that happening. if a dem is elected they have to fight with the republicans and if the replubican wins he has to deal fight the dems but if paul is elected he has to fight them both!  there is no libertarian side.

Moo, you are right that Ron Paul could not implement his full agenda as president, since the Congress would not go along with certain items that would need their support.

However, with a President Paul we could be fairly certain that he would not involve us in any new ill-advised wars.  He would revoke unconstitutional executive orders.  He would reverse the war on on our civil liberties, at a minimum by not exploiting many of the provisions of the Patriot Act.  He would veto unacceptable budgets presented to him.  He would fight the assault on our health freedoms.  And, very importantly, he would continue to educate the American people as to the proper role of the federal government.  And that, in the long term, could have a huge impact on what types of people are elected to Congress.
