At my church's yearly women's conference I roomed with a woman I never met before. She is a diabetes counsellor and she said that diabetes can go undetected for ten years but silently the damage is being done.
She said that in all the years she has been a nurse she has never seen as many youngsters with Type II diabtes as she is seeing now. She will give the patients advice on nutrition and exercise but never ceases to be shocked at how many of them don't want to change their habits and want to know if there is a pill they can take instead !
She says that she can forsee an epidemic of heart and other health problems due to out of control Type II Diabetes in people in their thirties and fourties. Our tastebuds have become perverted and we are paying the
food companies to slowly poison us with food that is filled with additives and grown in depleted soils. We are shocked that the Chinese put melamine in the dog food to up the "protein" content but where is the outcry about
the awful things we put is our own prepared food products for human consumption ? We have become our own worst enemies because we don't question the ingredients in our food. We get health problems and instead of being a detective and trying to find a cause and make some changes we want a pill...which leads to more pills because of side effects. We have to be like chess players and think about the long term consequences of the choices we make. When we are young and immortal we do and eat things without a care in the world but the consequences may not start showing up until you are fourty. We need to be conscious and intentional in all that we do.
barbic1953,
Youngsters have grown up to watch commercial after commercial on how pharmaceutical drugs are the answer to all that ails you. Unless this advertising stops, youngsters will want pills to alleviate their health issues. I stopped watching TV when my kids were young from 1994 to 2001. When I started to watch some TV again, I was shocked to discover so much drug advertising and that it was allowed. Does anyone think that this needs to stop?
KAC,
Educating onself and children (including teens) is the only (also best) way to REJECT the bombardment of commercials, instead of trying to "oppose" it, for it only encourages the gimickery and mischief played by mind numbing laws rules that go no where in helping understand simple truths of life. Life is very simple and resilient, whereas the drug companies render it complex, so that they can push their drugs for commercial interest at the cost of truth as well as lives of people. Thats' infact is the culprit. Thus fact is the TRUTH by understanding and educating which one would reject the commercialization. No use of any form of "activism" (against drug companies) would help.
Thank you Barbic1953 for your comments. You are right on the money with your quote about our tainted food supply. It just goes to show that people are truly clueless when it comes to what they are eating in this country. However we can make a difference by educating others. I work with a food and nutrition company that makes minimally processed foods for school lunch programs. We've just launched a series of educational seminars designed to enlighten school food service directors on how to transition into healthy foods for their school lunch programs. It would be great if we could use your quote and story in our presentation as the more real-life situation from health professionals that we can gather the better. If you are interested, please e-mail me at: julieg@kidsmartnutrition.com
Thank you for speaking up.
I hear you, Barbic1953. I think the lack of public outcry is a symptom of people's health. so many people are druggged up on antidepressants, antipsychotics, and 'mood stabilizers', and so many people eatsuch poor diets, they haven't the energy to care and to do something about it.
I'm truly surprised no one has said anything about melamine being in human food, too, especially in products like seitan when it is made in China.
As far as a future epidemic, I think we're already looking at it.
There's only one thing to do. Those of us with any energy left have to stop spending it all in places like this online with like-minded people and get out and educate people and make lots of noise instead.
We all need places like this for support and information. But most people spend far too much time in these safe havens.
I have a Yahoo Group that helps people discontinue psychotropic drugs. There are about 1100 members and I'm getting 20-30 mew members every week. It's overwhelming. Almost every new person in ther past year takes more than one drug with one of thrm being an antipsychotric. Medicine should be ashamed of itself for prescribing drugs like this for children and adults who 20 years ago would never have been given this type of drug. Medicine has gone off the deep end and it is trying to take everyone with it.
Regard,
Halaluani
Dr. Mercola,
This is the kind of information that should be constantly presented to the public, in order to counteract the money-mongering, brainwashing bombardment we are subjected to by big business through the "normal" media day in and day out.
I mean, the REAL #1 cause of death in the U.S. isn't the medical system - it's IGNORANCE!
So, when the ignorant feel a tickle in their throat, they are programmed to head down to the ER or make an appointment with their local AMA-programmed quack who uses cookie-cutter diagnostic modalities.
Which could prove to be far worse than their symptoms are... possibly lethal!
So, please keep exposing the lies of our government and all their cronies - to include the FDA, big pharma and anyone else who seeks to profit from misdirection, misinformation and manipulation of the masses.
I also agree that future presentations should absolutely include published, validated, peer reviewed (if necessary) references to back up the stats.
As for the plug at the end of the video, I thought it was perfectly appropriate. For those of you who disagree, maybe you've forgotten that Mercola.com is a FOR PROFIT site. Yeah, it's not a charity, they need cashflow to stay up and running.
To ensure that, they need a constant influx of new subscribers. So, offering access to the Mercola.com newsletter at the end of the video is a MUST! To do anything less would be downright foolish and a fine recipe for business failure.
Personally, I want this site to be around for a LOOONG time, how about you? So stop looking at this site like all the other "FREE" sites cluttering the web. Yes, he provides volumes of free information. And he is able to continue to do so through the proceeds from the sale of the PRODUCTS he offers. Really, you'd have to look pretty hard nowadays to find a site of any real value that provides everything for free, without any type of advertisement or upsell. Think about it.
You are absolutely right about people not taking charge of their own health. People have been brought up to put their trust in doctors, and can you blame them? The majority do not know any better. They almost killed me once with a dozen rounds of antibiotics, which I did not need. Now I once again have severe health problems, yes, due to ignorance.
We go to these so called Doctors for help and trust they will help us. That is why Dr. Mercola and his site is so very important. He gets the truth out to us who have been manipulated by the majority of the medical profession. He is helping all who log on to this site, for free.
I also agree that the clip promoting his book at the end is perfectly appropriate. He is a fine medical doctor out to help people, has many people working for him and don't forget his fight against the criticism from big business pushing prescription drugs for profit. He has to defend himself, and us.
I am fairly new to his site and have not purchased anything yet. But I intend to. I have checked out a few of his products, they are not over-priced. Who cares if he promotes supplements or his books? Like I said his purpose is to help people, and this site is very helpful to all who care about their health. He passes on his knowledge to to help us. I think that's great. I don't believe he is doing this for money. He informs us as to what he believes are the better products, so we don't waste our time wandering around the health food store.
Also, no one is obligated to buy anything from him, just register at his site. His knowledge regarding food is a tremendous help to us. I am amazed at what I am learning. Where else can you get this kind of valuable information? Yes, I want to see this site around for a long time! Sorry about any typos.
Excellent video! We need more doctors and nurses to think along this mind set! We ARE what we eat and we DO have control! I go to a physician for the testing / the diagnosis only, then I do my research to find what I am lacking in my diet that causes the symptoms / disease process.
Somehow, we need to find a way to stop the pharmaceutical giants from sleeping with the AMA and FDA and visa versa!
I decided to read the responses rather than watch the video and must say I enjoyed many of the responses. Guess i will have to watch the video. I have known for sometime that i don not wish to trust my health care to allopathic medicine so managed to find a D.O. who happens to take my insurance - what a blessing. This year I have been run through the medical mill having received a diagnosis of *** cancer in January. The upside to all of it is, I will never have another "biopsy" done or anymore mammograms, fired my oncologist as he did not want to see me again until "after I had surgery" and am currently using a non-toxic approach to heal my body of this cancerous tumor that, by God's grace, is working! We need to stop blindly trusting in this country's medical community to "take care of us" and learn God's design of our bodies and how He intended for us to take care of them. Read the "Owner's Manual" - it's very enlightening!
I'm glad for you and hope you get rid of your cancer soon. Yes, you are right. We need to take control of our own health and not count on some of these so-called doctors.
The point of the video is to get your attention, not to sit and critique the content.Looks like you have missed the point!!
