In this fascinating video, Vilayanur Ramachandran, the director of the Center for Brain and Cognition at the University of California, San Diego, and an adjunct professor at the Salk Institute, describes how brain damage can reveal the strong connection between your mind and your body.
Ramachandran explains not only the Capgras delusion (when people believe their friends and family have been replaced by imposters) but also phantom limb pain.
He has developed a simple, $3 tool made of a cardboard box and a mirror, which can eliminate phantom limb pain that has been plaguing people for decades.
Synesthesia, the mingling of the senses in which people hear color or smell sounds, is also discussed, and Ramachandran answers a question that has never before been answered: why artists, poets and novelists are eight times more likely to have synesthesia than the general population.
Your mind is intricately connected to your body, and those in the forefront of science are now offering hard evidence of this intuitive relationship.
The fact that there is such a thing as phantom limbs and associated pain is proof enough that your mind has a powerful influence on your physical body.
Ramachandran reveals something astounding in the video, and that is that some paralysis may actually be “learned paralysis.” This means that you may be able to use your mind to reestablish movement after a stroke or other paralysis. Your mind, in fact, is the central key to nearly all of your healing.
And when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. You are made out of energy, and so is your mind. So it’s only natural that your body is influenced by energetic forces.
In Comes “The New Biology”
I am a major fan of Dr. Bruce Lipton’s work. He is a forerunner in the field of epigenetics and The New Biology and has carefully documented how emotions are one of the most important factors in your health.
You have already experienced the impact of your emotions on your physical being. Butterflies in your stomach, sweaty palms when you’re nervous and increased energy when you’re excited are all common examples.
The New Biology takes things a step further. It demonstrates why the belief that your genes control your future health is outdated and just plain wrong.
This was proven through a massive genetic study, the Genome Project. It found that the preconceived idea that each gene creates one protein was incorrect. Rather, each of your genes can create up to 30,000 proteins, any and all of which can create a different outcome. So the fact that you have a genetic “predisposition” for breast cancer, for example, does not mean that you will develop breast cancer at some time in your life.
According to Lipton’s research, the controlling factor in deciding what your genes express -- in deciding how your future health will play out -- is not your genes, your family history or even the strength of your immune system. Instead, it is YOUR MIND.
This precisely correlates with Ramachandran’s findings, which suggest that your mind can actually be taught to relieve your body of pain and possibly paralysis. It is also in line with the work of Dr. Geerd Hamer’s German New Medicine, which found that virtually every disease is controlled from its own specific area in your brain and is linked to a very particular, identifiable, unhealed emotional trauma.
This is truly fascinating stuff, and embracing the concept that YOU are in control of your health and your life is clearly the direction that our culture and society has to, and needs to, go in.
Yet, it will take much spreading of the word before these concepts are widely accepted.
Because there are very powerful entities at work, namely the pharmaceutical companies, that have every reason to try and cover up this information as it threatens the infrastructure that is responsible for producing their profits. The last thing they want you to understand is that you can help heal yourself with your thoughts and not rely on their expensive and dangerous drug options.
Once you understand the secrets of this powerful and universal truth and start applying it in your life you will be in a constant state of awe as to what you can achieve. The key will be to consult with trained individuals in energy psychology, or better yet learn these tools yourself.
The challenge is that most of us are so busy that we don’t have the time to invest to learn it, but I know for myself, the single most important health tool I have is my ability to use energy psychology to remediate subconscious programming that typically causes devastating physical health traumas.
