Chips And French Fries Make Up One-Third Of Teens' Veggies

Kids aren't fat just because they're couch potatoes, but because they stuff themselves with mountains of potatoes cooked the least healthy way. Potato chips and French fries make up more than one-quarter of the vegetable servings eaten by children, and nearly one-third of the veggies eaten by teen-agers.

The USDA defines a serving of vegetables as 1 cup of raw leafy vegetables, a half- cup of other vegetables, or 3/4 cup of vegetable juice.

COMMENT: It is truly amazing that one-fourth of the breakfasts eaten by adults in the United States are eaten at McDonalds. This is a very sad commentary on the future health of our country.  Potatoes do NOT fit my definition of a vegetable. It is far closer to grain like wheat or rice. There are virtually no phytonutrients in potatoes. In case you don’t already realize it, French fries are one of the worst foods on the planet. Most people do not do well on potatoes, but when they are fried in toxic fat that is full of hydrogenated fat, the whole combination becomes quite disease promoting. Doughnuts are probably the only food that is worse than French fries that I can think of.
