100 Things To Do With Google Maps

google, google maps, internet searches, search engines, search tutorial, online searches, mapsYou may have mastered some of the basic tricks of Google, but most people use only about 3 percent of this search engine’s available power.

There are lots of Google search guides that detail the more common tips, but this site has compiled a long list of truly interesting and useful Google Map searches.

Some of these are really amazing, and remind me why Google has been my favorite search engine for nearly a decade!

Do you want to find a WiFi hotspot? Track world terrorism? Calculate Canadian taxi fare? Explore any location on earth?

Those are just a few of the many, many things you can do with Google Maps mashups! Click the link below for a list of 100 possibilities ... although there are many more.

To learn more about how to use more of the seemingly endless features of Google, try this online Google tutorial. You can spend anywhere from one-half to eight hours looking through it depending on how many sections you elect to skip, and how many of the examples and problems you work through. But you’re sure to learn some new way to use Google that you didn’t know was there before.

And, they were forced in a court of law to hand over the information to the government.

I went to my street, found my house, or at least what it must have looked at least four and a half years to five years ago!

How do I know? The farm ute is in the back yard, my long-gone Corolla in the driveway, pineapples on the land next door  are ready for harvest, while a patch has just been ploughed, and it is before the pool umbrella was installed! What a nostalgic peep back in time!

Well- the farm is now planted with houses, my home is now a different shape as I am rebuilding, and I now have my health!  I wonder how long it will be till it is updated? i wish I could get a copy of my little patch of dirt!!!

Now, cos this is a wellness site I'd better mention that at the time this bit of Australia was photographed, I was so ill- 3x- heavy-duty BP meds, Diabetes Type 2 tablets for 8 years, Lipitor for the dread cholestrol,  Vioxx and paracetamol for arthritic pain (ouch!) and always with Ventolin Asthma puffers everywhere I went. And I could no longer go for walks along the beloved Pineapple tracks, as are visible in the Google shot.

After radical dietary changes with brilliant nutritional supplements all that has changed!

It was Dr Mercola's articles that alerted me to the dangers of Vioxx (I had 2 heart events) and as I improved, I was able to wean off them  and all the other symptoms faded (whew!). I am no longer being a good little diabetic on diet stuff either, thanks to the Doc! In fact my Doctor said he could not guess from the blood tests and other results that I had ever been a diabetic!

So it just goes to show that when you give your body what it needs and stop giving it what it doesn't, that it can respond and get on with healing itself!

I am so glad I am not locked in that time-zone still.

Like I said though, Mr Google, I still wish I could print it out!

Oh wonderful...more "things to do" to keep your mind "eng(caged)!  Just be aware that currently, Google is cooperating with the Chinese government in a BIG way, to censor it's citizenry's Internet information access:

just a hint:  www.rense.com/general69/intercens.html

Is there any way to opt out?  I can see some real downsides in the case of people being stalked, child molesters looking for targets, etc.

Google is awesome, i think it can be good and bad though. You could run into a lot of things that you are NOT looking for.

Google has a playful interest in making information fun. Like no other search engine, they keep innovating the ways you can find and use info. No wonder they dominate market share of Internet searches.

The catch is that you have to be really clever in the way you word your searches to find what you want.  They pay people lots of bucks to make sure their site shows up on the first page, so you have to be cute with the way your word the search criteria.

Planing my last vacation I located the adress of the time share thenthe meeting place.  With these two marked I shifted to the photo view and explored the terain in between.  Could at maximum magnification see the trucks and cars on the road;  where the beach access trails were; the lakes and ponds.   It is like geting a free airplain ride over your destination before you get there.   Some frends moved to Alabama; I was able to discus the theraputic value of the swiming pool, the garden space, and ask about the bushes that lind the circle drive.
