A new study has revealed that a humble cup of black tea could be an antidote to Bacillus anthracis -- more commonly know as anthrax.
Anthrax is a potentially fatal disease. A very serious and rapidly progressing form of the disease, occurring when bacterial spores are inhaled, makes anthrax a potent threat as a biological warfare agent.
But components of black tea, such as polyphenols, have the ability to inhibit the activity of anthrax considerably. However, the research also showed that the addition of whole milk to a standard cup of tea completely inhibited its antibacterial activity against anthrax.
