Can HDL take oxidized cholesterol to the liver to unoxidize it?  Because if the liver can produce cholesterol from scratch, then I believe it can unoxidize cholesterol.

Such complex machinery just shows how complex we really are, and how only small deviations of our system cause terrible health problems.

It just shows that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Yes! This is how antioxidant foods and herbs work, through the liver. The Chinese look at the liver as the general in an army. It distributes the supplys and wepons where and when needed. (To all the "troops")There are an estamated 600 liver functions but I think it is more. What a machine!

This was a terrific interview  that seems to truly put into perspective the "real deal" on  Cholesterol. Afterall, there is a science and logic to the physiology of the human body and most people are oblivious to the function of cholesterol and are frightened and overwhelmed by the scare that the medical profession  and pharmaceutical industry have created. The emphasis on good nutrition and avoidance of substances that cause oxidation in the body is told in a wonderfully straightforward  way that is so easy to understand. A collective thanks for the education.
                                                                Sincerely, Lori Kaufmann, RN

I'm with you Lori. I too am an RN and get questions all the time about Cholesterol. Soooooo many people are on drugs to lower their Cholesterol. It's really sad since they could make their lives better with a good eating plan and exercise.
This interview makes it so simple to understand and then explain to others. Great job! Thanks Dr. Mercola!

Wonderful explanation. I will be passing this on to those I know that have been brainwashed into believing this 'good/bad' marketing pharma scheme. I am also an RN, and I see so many people as well who are on
meds for cholesterol when all they need to do is to get some exercise, eat
whole foods, avoid the 'whites' (sugar and flour) and all that processed food, and drink plenty of water.
Thanks Dr. M

I have always said this and had the worst time convincing patients that I was not crazy! “But what about the numbers?” they would always say. I said it is the quality not the quantities, we need the stuff! but they kept going back to what the MD drug pushers always said! I am going to put a link to this video that is so well explained – (and by a real MD - not some stupid “Herb Doc”) on my cholesterol page! I love the fact that the size of the stuff is mentioned! The wonderful Chinese herb, Jiao Gu Lan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum – a small vine in the cucumber family) has always worked great for this! It will even lower the numbers that the MDs want but I am sure that is because they become larger in size with not so much room for the numbers.

Right on Herb Doc, Almighty Cholesterol  is to the human body as Ron Rosedale is to medicine -  TRUE MEDICINE......
But you know what the really sad part  is, as with many other things today, it would take an eternity for Conventional Medicine to recognised this, they are not the swiftest when it comes to Natural solutions that really truly work.....

I could'nt access the video will try later , but first and foremost there's no such thing as good and bad cholesterol. Nature or our creator never made anything that bad for us and cholesterol is no exception, WE WOULD SURELY DIE WITHOUT IT.....HDL, LDL, VLDL they all got their uses and functions, but note, if any of these are outta whack, it's a signal that you're doing something wrong, either your diet, or better yet, your lifestlye needs to be checked. Correct  them and your on your merry way again......LEAVE THE STATINS ON SHELVES !!!!!!
