The study was sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline, and uses children from poor families. According to the Argentine Federation of Health Professionals, the families are "pressured and forced into signing consent forms”.
The vaccine trial is still ongoing despite the denunciations.
GlaxoSmithKline is counting on its expanded vaccines research to boost its bottom line, working on “protection” against a wide variety of the world’s most common diseases. It’s unfortunate that so many people are still clueless about the ruthless vaccine practices of pharmaceutical companies like GSK, and the dangers and outright needlessness of most of these vaccines.
According to a Glaxo spokeswoman, “…Safety is always our primary concern in the development of any new treatment or vaccine. All studies are conducted according to the highest ethical and scientific standards and in compliance with international standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).” But the Argentine Federation of Health Professionals claim it is being conducted “without any type of state control,” and “does not comply with minimum ethical requirements.”
Who do you believe? The local health professionals, or the drug giant citing compliance with some form of international standard?
Is a Pneumonia Vaccine Even Necessary?
Pneumonia is a severe form of acute lower respiratory infection that specifically affects your lungs. As a result, pus and fluid can collect in the alveoli of your lungs, which interferes with oxygen absorption and makes breathing difficult.
Danger signs of pneumonia include cough and fast or difficult breathing.
According to the 2006 UNICEF report, Pneumonia: The Forgotten Killer of Children, pneumonia kills more children than aids, malaria and measles combined. An estimated 2 million children die from pneumonia each year, accounting for almost 1 in 5 deaths of children under the age of five, worldwide, with South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa bearing the burden of more than half of the total number of pneumonia cases.
That pneumonia is a serious affliction is not under debate. Only the question of what the most appropriate prevention method is.
According to UNICEF, the most effective forms of prevention of pneumonia include:
- Exclusive breast feeding
- Promoting adequate nutrition and zinc supplementation
- Reducing indoor air pollution
- Expanding vaccine coverage
Now, to highlight and compare the effectiveness level that a pneumonia vaccine can offer compared to simple and inexpensive nutritional intervention, consider this: After reviewing a total of 10 studies, investigators at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that zinc supplementation alone reduces the risk of pneumonia by 41 percent!
Compare that to another recent GSK vaccine trial in Gambia that boasted about a 37 percent reduction in pneumonia cases…
And in an ironic twist, a drug review by the FDA recently found that GSK’s rotavirus vaccine (Rotarix) is associated with a significant increase in pneumonia-related deaths in children, compared to a placebo. In essence, GSK is contributing to the very problem they’re supposedly trying to resolve with yet another vaccine.
How Many Deaths Due to Vaccines are Acceptable?
An interesting study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology called, Rotavirus Vaccine and Intussusception: How Much Risk Will Parents in the United States Accept to Obtain Vaccine Benefits? gives a glimpse into how much planning and orchestrating goes into the marketing of any drug or vaccine – down to the exact number of “acceptable deaths” that parents will put up with and still get their child vaccinated, and how much they’re willing to pay for the vaccine, based on its stated risks.
The study reads: “As the proportion of the population protected from previously common childhood disease has increased, concern has shifted to possible vaccine-associated side effects… Despite the obvious benefits of vaccination, no vaccine is completely safe. The impact of risk on parental acceptance of new vaccines is important to ascertain. “
They found that the higher the education and income bracket of the parents, the lower the acceptable risk. In order to achieve a 90 percent acceptance rate (a typical target for recommended childhood vaccines), they found that parents would accept no more than 1,794 cases of vaccine-related intussusception (a problem with the intestine in which one portion of the bowel slides into the next) caused by the rotavirus vaccine, per year.
This incidence rate corresponds to 359 surgeries and 14 deaths, 11 of which could be related to the rotavirus vaccine.
However, this and other studies of parental attitudes toward vaccination have repeatedly demonstrated that parents still prefer their child dying from an actual disease than dying from side effects associated with vaccination.
You’re Being Flooded by Vaccines
Last month I wrote an article about the HPV vaccine Gardasil, at which time the VAERS database contained 6,760 adverse events, including 16 deaths.
Today, less than a month later, I have the distinct displeasure to report that the situation with Gardasil is only getting worse. The Judicial Watch Special Report, Examining the FDA’s HPV Vaccine Records, dated June 30, 2008, reviews records obtained from the FDA under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act. Those records paint an even grimmer version of this dangerous vaccine, whose side effects now include:
- A total of 8,864 reported adverse events
- A minimum of 18, but possibly 20 reported deaths. 11 occurred less than one week after vaccination, and 7 within two days
- 45 cases of miscarriages and spontaneous abortions
- 78 outbreaks of genital warts, plus additional cases of facial warts and warts on hands and feet, even in patients who had tested negative for HPV and genital warts prior to vaccination
Additionally, Merck correspondence included in these records state that Gardasil has NOT been evaluated for its potential to cause carcinogenity or genotoxicity, AND, they were permitted to use an aluminum-containing placebo instead of a standard saline placebo.
Since Gardasil contains 225 mcg of aluminum, using an aluminum-containing placebo may paint an entirely inaccurate picture of its level of safety.
But keep in mind folks that study after study has shown that only about 1 to 1.5 percent of all side effects are ever reported! And the statistics for reporting more serious side effects, including death, is not much better. The NVIC Investigative Report on the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System found that in New York, only 1 of about 40 doctor's offices (2.5 percent) confirmed that they had reported a death or injury following vaccination.
Yet the government and the medical community RELY on these figures, which are up to 99 PERCENT INACCURATE!
Can Pneumonia Be Effectively Prevented and Treated Without a Vaccine?
As I mentioned earlier, effective prevention methods include exclusive breast feeding for the first six months of life, reducing indoor air pollution, and proper nutrition, including appropriate amounts of zinc.
This is a great reminder of the therapeutic value of zinc. The lozenges are excellent for colds and upper respiratory infections, but you should also consider it for more severe problems like diarrhea or pneumonia.
Bear in mind, however, that it is very easy to become zinc overloaded. If you get nauseous shortly after taking the zinc, it is highly likely that you already have enough zinc and should hold off on taking any more.
Another little-known pneumonia-buster is good old fashioned essential oils.
Researchers have found that some essential oils -- oregano, thyme and rosewood oils in particular -- create an autolytic reaction in organisms, including Streptococcus pneumonia. Spraying these essential oils in the laboratory simply made the pneumonia cells fall apart!
The best results occurred with oregano, thyme and rosewood, and intermediate inhibition of the pathogens was achieved with cinnamon oil and clove oil.
Dr. Horne, the lead author of the study, pointed out that the oils also showed efficacy against E. coli and several species of fungi.
This is good news for any of you who are cultivating a garden. Oregano is a hardy perennial that returns year after year, and can provide you with a natural, inexpensive way to stay healthy.
I would recommend the Greek oregano which only grows about 18 inches tall. Avoid the taller 4 foot plants (Oregano vulgare) as they do not have as much of the effective essential oils. You can also purchase pure oregano oil in your local health food store.
Whatever you do, please, please do your homework before subjecting your children to any vaccine. A great way to get started is to simply use the Search Feature at the top of each of my web pages and search my site as it contains a litany of research on vaccine safety, and the lack thereof.
