Does Chemo for Breast Cancer Cause More Harm Than Good?

woman, breast cancerNew studies suggest that many women with breast cancer can opt for gentler versions of chemotherapy, or skip it altogether, without harming their chances of overcoming the illness.

One study found that a gene test called Oncotype DX can determine whether or not a patient will benefit from chemotherapy. The test measures the activity of 21 genes to predict women’s risk of recurrence.

Currently, chemotherapy is recommended for women with breast cancer that has spread to lymph nodes, which amounts to about 45,000 women each year in the United States. However, the chemo does not help most of those treated.

The study found that as many as 18,000 women each year could safely skip chemo, and the new test is expected to immediately spur doctors to back off on chemotherapy and use it more selectively.

A second study of more than 1,000 women tested two chemotherapy drugs -- Adriamycin, a chemo mainstay that raises your risk of heart problems and leukemia, and Taxotere, which is not linked to heart problems.

After seven years, 87 percent of women given Taxotere survived compared with only 82 percent of those given Adriamycin. Further, those given Taxotere were less likely to have had a recurrence. The study suggests that Taxotere, the less harsh drug of the two, may be a better choice for breast cancer patients.

Dr. MercolaDr. Mercola's Comments:
More than 12 million people were diagnosed with cancer worldwide in 2007, and close to 8 million died of the disease. Yet, even with this magnitude of people affected, the conventional health paradigm is clueless about the origins, and proper treatments, for this disease.

Cancer treatment is one of the most controversial health topics there is, but what cannot be debated are the huge amounts of money at stake. Prices for new cancer therapies can cost you up to $10,000 a month, so it’s no wonder that insurance companies are happily paying for the new Oncotype DX gene test, which at $3,400 could save them big bucks on chemotherapy.

Are these cancer drugs worth it? Hardly. These expensive medications often give patients just a few more months of life -- and sometimes they even kill people prematurely or CAUSE CANCER themselves.

What the drug companies do not want you to know is that you have within your body the most powerful weapon against cancer and all disease, and it is yours to use freely: YOUR MIND.

The Mind-Cancer Connection

You’ve heard of the mind-body connection. Well, I’d like to introduce you to a slightly different mode of thinking. Your mind is in direct control of your health, including your risk of and recovery from cancer.

Dr. Hamer, the former head internist in the oncology clinic at the University of Munich, Germany, is at the forefront of an emerging field he calls German New Medicine (GNM).

Conflict Might be the Cause of Breast Cancer

Dr. Hamer’s work speculates that breast cancer is due to an unresolved conflict, as he explains on his Web site:

"A right handed woman will respond with the left breast if she has a mother-child conflict or a daughter-mother conflict and will respond with the right breast if she has a partner conflict. Her partners include her life’s partner as in husband, a friend, her brother, sister, her father, or even her business partner. The opposite breast will be affected in a left handed woman.

We do not develop either intra-ductal or breast gland cancer without reason. The specific nature or feeling behind the conflict will determine precisely what brain location will receive the impact of the initial conflict-shock and whether it will be the duct or the gland affected.

Breast gland cancer has to do with the woman’s nest in the sense that she has a "worry, quarrel, or argument" going on in her nest. The worry could be over a health concern of a loved one, or even being thrown out of the nest by her mother! The overall issue concerned however is really a separation from a loved one.

Milk duct cancer has quite specifically to do with the conflict of, "my child, mother, or partner has been torn from my breast!" Again it is a separation conflict and the rules of laterality also apply here."

After nearly three decades of scientific work, Dr. Hamer has proven that every disease is caused by a very disturbing emotional trauma. The emotional shock causes a direct physical ailment, such as cancer, which can only be resolved when your emotional conflict has healed.

However, many people, upon hearing they have cancer, cannot resolve their emotional wounds because they are struck with fear and perhaps given a diagnosis of “only three months to live.”

This kind of emotional upset is enough to send a person on a downward spiral. On top of that, conventional medicine adds in chemotherapy, radiation and drugs, which further upset your healing.

Now, listen closely.

Dr. Hamer believes that a person cannot die of cancer in and of itself.

If someone dies during the active phase of disease, it’s because of energy loss, weight loss, sleep deprivation, and emotional and mental exhaustion. The stress of receiving a cancer diagnosis, or being given a negative prognosis, is often enough to deprive a person of their life-force, and conventional cancer treatments only accelerate the downward spiral.

If a patient has not undergone any conventional treatments such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy, GNM has a success rate of 95 percent to 98 percent.

Not surprisingly, while trying to publicize his research, Dr. Hamer was stripped of his medical license for refusing to renounce his findings. Remember, there are major forces at work who do not want you to believe that YOU have control over your health.

They want you to believe that you must take their medications to be well, when in reality the opposite is true.

For more on this fascinating field, you can also listen to the interview I did with Bruce Lipton, PhD. about The New Biology, which also speaks volumes about your own power to control your future health destiny.

Of course, while I now believe that your emotional health is the most important factor in preventing cancer, you can also help to reduce your risk by following these 12 changes that will cut your cancer risk in half.

Cancer was not a health issue 100 years ago and has gradually become a significant risk.  I find it hard to believe that their is more unresolved conflict  now than in the past.  But their has been unquestionably more chemicals, processed foods, and GMO's in our lives during the past 100 years.

Anyone who cares at all about any of the reproductive cancers that are rampant these days, should read the works of Dr. John Lee, M.D., whether they are a patient or pracitioner or both.  These readily available works include the best explanaitons I have ever read or heard, as well as the best protocols for recovering to good health.  In fact, I thik these approaches are so effective that I bet my own life on them.  When I was diagnosed nearly 3 years ago with prostate cancer at a little over 54 years of age, I followed Dr. Lee's protocols rather than the conventional route that the good folks at Kaiser were pushing very hard.  A few months later I was "miraculously" free of disease.  My closed-minded, ignorant urologist was amazed, but not enough to even read Dr. Lee's work, even though I bought him his very own copy.  Talk about brain-washed by the "system"!  Folks, as long as big pharma controls the "standards of care", and even a good part of the curriculum of required continuing education for health care practitioners, we cannot trust the medical establishment to be the guardians of our health.  That is why we must all become our own experts about our own health, and just use physicians when we must as our servents and the mostly dumb technicians they often turn out to be.  We also need to work to overturn the legal and economic forces that are certain to increasingly seek to disempower us when it comes to our own health.

Here's a pretty good website for getting started with familiarizing yourself with Dr. Lee's highly effective work.

http://www.johnleemd.com/

I have helped lots and lots of women with breast and other reproductive cancers towards recovering their health by getting them going on this learning.  I wish I could get all doctors who have anything to do with this to at least look at this body of knowledge.

Chemo will destroy the fastest growing cells in the body.  This is designed to shrink the fast growing cells of cancer.  It will also destroy  other fast growing cells such as those of the immune system.  As a persons immune system is designed to keep tumors in check (it has been found that all women over 50 have small tumors in their breasts that don't go anywhere because the immune system handles them), once a person goes through chemo, they are less likely to be able to destroy future tumors.  When breast cancer patients undergo chemo they are also likely to develop heart problems later on.
There are many alternate cures that are much safer and more effective than the cut, poison, and burn method.that are medical doctors want to subject us to.  (In some states if a medical doctor recommends anything else, they are subject to disciplinary action by the medical board) .  For great info on the politics of cancer treatment and also info on alternative treatments visit   www.cancertutor.com

By definition, Chemo destroys healthy tissue, along with metastasized carcinogenic cells or tissue.

The answer to the post's question is: YES!

Alternatives?  Ionic Colloidal Silver is one of many, that is vetted, is less harmful, and more effective, at much lower cost...but the FDA is trying to outlaw ICS, on behalf of it's K Street Lobby Big Pharma bosses.

Thermography will detect ANY cancer many years before the expensive and dangerous scans. You simply stand in front of a machine that detects any abnormal heat in the body and projects the image onto a screen and then prints it out. A trained person can interpret the readings to find trouble spots in the body. My Dr then follows up with nutrition testing and gets your body balanced with herbs and whole food minerals, etc. No drugs. No toxic rays. Later grams will show that the problem has gone away!!

Thermography  rescued me from a misdiagnosis for shingles. The thermogram revealed that it was not shingles at all, and a few cold laser and acupuncture treaments stopped the pain and sores and they never came back.

Another time "mainstream" Doctors said my ankle swelling was caused by heart trouble, and of course, wanted me to be on drugs for life. The thermogram showed an inflamation in the left kidney and a week or so of the good Doctors kidney tonic, featuring Milk Thistle and a few other herbs, cleared it up and the swelling never came back. Needless to say, I am a big fan of Thermography and recommend a full body scan once a year or so done by a knowledgeable holistic Doctor. In my case it was a certified Chinese Medicine Doctor.

I have been using Thermography for a few years now, but only for breast imaging.  I travel 3 hours to a chiropractor in Plano who has the equipment.  The results then have to be sent off to doctor who can read the thermal image.  My local doctor tolerates me, but I would like to find a physician in the area that accepts the procedure and is knowledgeable about nutrition.

Is there a website that lists those active in Thermal Imaging procedures?

I just lost a niece to cancer.  She was only 20, and pregnant.  She was a happy, sweet, beautiful girl, engaged to be married to her sweetheart of 6 years.  Her website talks of how excited she is and her fiance talks of how happy he is to be marrying Nancy and spending the rest of his life with her.  :(

She was about 16-20 weeks pregnant and feeling VERY sick.  She went to a walk-in clinic (Primary Health) and they told her nothing was wrong with her.

Her fiance finally took her to a major hospital emergency room because she was so weak.  They figured out she had non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  Her WBC's were 400,000.

They convinced her that her only chance of survival was to induce labor.  Her tiny baby girl lived for 25 minutes in her arms before dying.

They drugged her up so she would relax and conserve energy for healing, then pumped her full of chemo/radiation.  She never woke up again.  Her organs failed, she couldn't breathe on her own, she was on life support.  The doctors convinced her family that she wasn't going to make it and they should just "pull the plug".

How can a young vibrant girl walk into an emergency room, get a diagnosis of cancer, and be gone in three weeks?????????????  It's devastating.

I hope to get comments on this, the whole family is devastated, as is her fiance and her friends.

One more time we get to hear the only remedy the allopathic/pharmaceutical communities have to offer, and that is treating the symptoms rather than the cause.

What makes it worse except for a few brave doctors that will defy the status quo of the AMA to delve into alternatives is the fact that the AMA promotes this myopic type of thinking rather than letting treatments stand on their own merits regardless of where, or how they originate.

Under the guise of protecting the public they continue to stifle in any, and every way healing, and instead protect the pharmaceutical industry, and their profits at the expense of the population.

Most here are aware of the need for the basics in health. The high quality non processed foods (preferably organic), coupled with exercise, and some form of detoxification to keep from getting a disease such as Cancer. While I believe that the body is the healer, I do think there are Herbs and other solutions that make it easier for the body to do the job.

One of the latest is what is being called MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution). The inventor Jim Humble has written a book about it, the first part is an e-book that can be downloaded free, and part 2 is $9.95  http://tinyurl.com/34cgus.

He has done wonders with Malaria in the African countries, and had success with Cancer also. The book is worth a read at the very least, and here are some video’s.

Insurance companies also only seem interested in treating the symptoms, not the cause.  My mother's doctor recommended she have a colonoscopy, because she already went through breast cancer, and has other risk factors for developing colon cancer. Her insurance company refused to pay unless she already had symptoms of colon cancer.

Also, I have not been to a doctor in about 5 years, due to not having health insurance.  I now have health insurance, and would like to get a checkup to make sure I am healthy, but my insurance will not pay for a doctor visit unless I am already showing signs of some illness.

If your doctor tells you that you have breast cancer, please get a second opinion.  Use thermagraphy instead of mammograms.  Recently there were over 300 women in Atlantic Canada who were diagnosed with breast cancer.  But the labs were wrong, they did not have cancer at all.  Of these women, the ones who went through the conventional method of chemo, most are dead.  So sad, they didn't have cancer in the first place.

The chemicals used in chemo therapy are very dangerous to the human body, and often the cause of death is the chemo, and not the disease.

Many cases of breast cancer if not all can be reversed by a nutritionaly correct diet and EFT.

Hi, this is my very first post.  Let me start by wishing all of you a healthy and prosperous 2008!  This is slightly off subject, but I didn't know where to go to ask my question.  My question is about metabolic typing.  I read the book, and attempted the self test questions.  I'm frustrated because I can't answer the questions regarding red meat and how I feel if I eat this at breakfast, or in the evening etc.  I haven't touched red meat in any form for over 20 years, I just don't like it.  My question is: how do I find out what my nutrional type is if I can't answer those questions?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can give me!

Yeh!!! EFT.  Have used it on many minor things, but it works.  You don't even have to believe in it - it just works.
