A foundation populated by the giants of business, banking, government and military wants to “vet” websites and limit the spread of information that it says creates “conspiracy theories”.
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) says it is worried about the way the web has been “used to spread disinformation”. They want to introduce a new system that would give websites a label for trustworthiness or unreliability.
One “damaging conspiracy theory” they want to shut down is the notion that MMR vaccines are harmful. Of course, this “conspiracy theory” stems not from paranoid forum postings and misquoted blog entries, but from scientific research into the mercury based preservative thimerosal.
Thimerosal was developed by Eli Lilly, and Merck is the world’s largest supplier of the MMR triple jab -- and it is little wonder W3C considers such information to be “damaging” given that Eli Lilly and Merck are both paid up and approved members of the Consortium! If anyone should be labeled with an “unreliable” rating, it is the WC3.
One of the reasons I love the web is because it offers access to virtually limitless amounts of information. Information needed to make conscious, well-informed decisions about your health, for example. Today, the web is one of the few places where you can find non-suppressed truth being told, as the vast majority of mainstream media has been corporately influenced and biased to the point where many are little more than mouthpieces for various industry interests.
It also allows a forum for everyone, including me, to be challenged.
However, what the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is proposing is to pull the plug on free speech, free thinking, truth telling, and personal decision making, where only industry-sponsored propaganda is allowed to flourish freely.
What a nightmare.
What is the World Wide Web Consortium?
W3C is an international consortium of members that work together to develop Web standards and guidelines to make sure that various web technologies are compatible, and that hardware and software used to access the web work together. Since 1994, W3C has published more than 110 such standards, called W3C Recommendations.
As of 23 September 2008, the W3C has 420 Members, which include many of the biggest players of the corporate world, colleges and universities, hospitals, pharmaceutical giants, government agencies, and military entities.

Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and inventor of the World Wide Web, said in his BBC News interview:
“The internet needs a way to help people separate rumor from real science. On the web the thinking of cults can spread very rapidly and suddenly a cult which was 12 people who had some deep personal issues find a formula which is very believable. A conspiracy theory of sorts, and one which you can imagine spreading to thousands of people and being deeply damaging."
He follows up by saying:
"One of the things I always remain concerned about is that the medium remains neutral. It's not just where I go to decide where to buy my shoes -- which is the commercial incentive -- it's where I go to decide who I'm going to trust to vote. It's where I go maybe to decide what sort of religion I'm going to belong to or not belong to; it's where I go to decide what is actual scientific truth -- what I'm actually going to go along with and what is bunkum."
Now I have enormous respect for Tim; by every right he should be the richest person on the planet as he invented the web (not the internet) but consciously chose to let it be free and open, and did not retain any intellectual ownership of it.
What is so deeply disturbing about this though is that he, along with his consortium members, believe they have a monopoly on neutral and truthful information; that somehow some “entity” should decide for you what’s “bunkum” and what’s not, rather than letting you make up your own mind.
Based on the conspiracy theories, or “cult thinking,” examples he gave, letting this group have anything to do with deciding what scientific truth is, is nothing short of information genocide; vital truths that can save lives will be effectively driven into the silent depths, with their “unreliable” or “false” labels around their necks like a two-ton slab of cement.
Have You Heard the Rumors About Vaccines?
Of particular concern to Berners-Lee and the consortium is what he refers to as “the spread of rumors” that the MMR vaccine given to children in Britain is harmful.
Rumors? What rumors?
What about the undisputed fact that the British government introduced three brands of MMR vaccines in 1988, and by 1992, two of those brands were withdrawn from the market after serious adverse reactions were recorded in Canada, Japan and Britain? Granted, at the time the government announced it was merely a "change in supply," rather than fessing up the ugly truth. Only later was it admitted that these vaccines had caused encephalitis (a serious brain condition) in some children.
Far from what the W3C would have you believe, the fears that vaccines are harmful and damage children’s health are anything but unfounded conspiracy theories created by a hysterical few. And, although autism gets most of the attention when discussing vaccines, it's by no means the only health risk. The MMR vaccine, for example, is not implicated directly as causing autism, since it does not contain mercury, but rather as having other dangerous side effects and potentially being a contributor to other neurological disorders that stem from over-vaccination.
The list of scientific research backing these claims is a very long one. (For a short list, see this link.) Yet somehow the totality of these findings is to be ignored as disinformation from within the scientific and medical community itself?
Another interesting fact to note is that most of the studies funded by industry conclude vaccines are safe, whereas independent studies keep finding serious flaws and raise alarming questions about their safety and efficacy.
Could this be because the pharmaceutical industry is worth more money than the gross domestic product (GDP) of these COUNTRIES?
What most people don’t realize is that the pharmaceutical industry’s power and influence over government, the field of conventional medicine, and your mind through massive marketing efforts, is in a class of its own. In fact, if placed on the list ranking the countries of the world according to gross domestic product, the pharmaceutical industry would rank number 17 out of 185 countries in 2007!

Just the Facts, Ma’am
In the early 1980s, the incidence of autism was 1 in 10,000 births. In 2001, it was 1 in 500, and by 2005, the incidence had leaped to 1 in 250 births.
Today it is 1 in 150 births, and some estimate lower than one in 50, and still climbing.
One of the strongest links to this terrible set of disorders was a drastic change in the vaccine programs of the United States and many other countries, which included a dramatic increase in the number of vaccines being given at a very early age.
No other explanation has been forthcoming from the medical elite.
In 1976, children received 10 vaccines before attending school. Today they will receive over 36 injections. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Disease Control assures parents that it is safe to not only give these vaccines, but that it’s safe to give multiple vaccinations at the same time.
Is this true? Or are we being lied to on a grand scale?
The medical establishment has created a set of terms, which they use constantly to boost their egos and firm up their authority as the unique holders of medical wisdom -- the mantra is “evidence-based medicine”, as if everything outside their anointing touch is bogus and suspect.
But a careful examination of many of the accepted treatments reveals that most have little or no scientific “evidence-based” data to support it.
One often repeated study found that almost 80 PERCENT of medical practice had NO scientific backing!
There’s a persistent double standard when it comes to “our” evidence versus “theirs.” The proponents of vaccination safety can just say they are safe, without any supporting evidence what-so-ever, and it is to be accepted without question or opposition.
Yet, let any otherwise accomplished scientist or medical expert suggest that excessive vaccination can increase the risk of not only autism, but a host of other neurodegenerative diseases as well, and the proponents claim there’s “no supporting evidence,” despite the reams of studies showing harm is being done.
Censorship by Any Other Name is Still Censorship
What the W3C consortium is offering by labeling web sources as either “reliable” or “unreliable” is nothing but an extension of this already corrupted “evidence-based” system.
Mandatory vaccine policies depend on overwhelming public acceptance, but public confidence is being eroded by reports in the free media on the web about conflicts of interest, secrecy, and questionable data. No wonder the industry feels pressured to put on the gloves and quench the opposing side once and for all.
But the whole concept of the government and industry forcing experimental treatment on healthy individuals is disturbing to those who value freedom, and unilaterally censoring information deemed unfavorable to industry interests should be an outrage to all capable of independent thought.

I am one person that came to a decision based on, but not entirely by, reading package inserts. For example, when I read the insert for the DTP or DTaP vaccine and I read this, "Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) has occurred in infants following administration of whole-cell pertussis DTP and DTaP." It doesn't take much more than that to raise red flags in my mind!
Personally, I believe there is a link to MMR vaccine and autism based on Dr. Wakefield's and Dr. Singh's, just to name a few, investigations on the subject. And mercury is not the only link to autism as the aforementioned scientists (Wakefield and Singh-working independently of each other by the way) present in their investigational works.
Anyway, this W3C group is criminal as far as I'm concerned. In the days of the wild wild west, the law of the town would have taken these thugs and hung them. In today's time, the "law" wines and dines with these clowns. It's time for a new sheriff...and deputies as well!
The root cause of many of our modern medical problems is whored science. The folks who work for big pharma, university researchers, the government scientists, etc are influenced ,if not completely, at least enough to ignore the overwhelming evidence that we are getting sicker and sicker. chronic diseases are rampant and uncontrollable by modern science. By all standards heart disease, diabetics, cancers, etc are more and more common. It is not because we don't have enough vaccinations or enough pills. Every pill and procedure has a side effect. The side effect may not cause immediate problems but slowly and surely keep dumping crap in your body, environment and etc and things will go wrong. Modify foods in a way nature never intended and things will go wrong. I forget the guys name in Jurassic park who points out the same basic idea. Screw with nature enough and try to box it in and eventually pandoras box will split right open. The box is split, individuals can try and limit exposure but it is like escaping from a tsuamni. If you are near the shore it will get you. If you want to try and escape the tsunami of whored science you need to move to high ground. Like the mother who would not vaccinate her children.
All one has to do is look at the critics and how they treat Jenny McCrathy, over her contention that her son is now recovering from the ravages of Autism. The claim now is that her son was mis-diagnosised, and that he was not actually suffering Autism.

I personally am "so sick" of people misreading articles on the web and then commenting on their misread information. In my opinion vaccines do cause the problems we are seeing today, whether it is the enormous number of them, or the chemicals within them, or a person's genetic makeup that causes them to be more sensitive to them, or a combination of them, or the scheduling of them too close together. Maybe it is a combination of all of the above. But, I too wonder how I (born in 1967) have been able to live as long as I have without having had all of these shots. I didn't even get my boosters at age 7 like I was supposed to. I have been to Mexico and Fiji and have lived in Southern California most of my life. I have worked in a number of restaurants where we all know the majority of staff are illegal aliens. How did I slip through the cracks and not catch some terminal disease? I think my immune system was not compromised by vaccines and learned to immunize itself! God has an uncanny way of building our bodies to defend many things, we just have to believe that our bodies are capable of it and stop INTRODUCING viruses and disease that we would not naturally be exposed to! I have a 3 year old daughter who has never been immunized and I have two dogs who have never had any besides their first series, and a rabies after that. Yay

What the labs see in their microscopes are bits of protein, which living organisms use as a REPAIR material to restore health! Introducing these, which to each and everyone of us individuals are foreign substances, catches the body unprepared and it reacts, depending on the degree of wellness of that individual at that particular time, with a rejection response. If the individual survives this assault, it is prepared in the future to recognize the threat and can respond more quickly and remain in a better state of health. This happens naturally with all of us as we adept to our surroundings and given the 'wisdom' of Nature, we get better equipped as time goes on, even without vaccinations by quacky medicine men!

That I do not have the right to catch a virus and transfer it to someone else. Well, in reality, I do not have a CHOICE. If I am exposed, and IMMUNE from vaccination, I can still (and will) be a carrier for everyone else.
How they get away with these arguments is amazing to me. I am not asking that I be allowed to put everyone else at risk. I am asking that I be allowed to take my own risks.
Communism is a form of government that states that the FEW know what is best for everyone. The Free Market says nobody can be that smart, and simply having a free market allows the best ideas to flourish and the worse to fail.

Wow. I'm not even sure what to say. I read the whole text of the 2nd link (from TonkaTruck), and sure enough, we the people really have ZERO rights to refuse vaccinations. All the exemptions are really just smoke and mirrors. It appears the "almighty courts" have clearly determined numerous times, that the police power of the state can over ride any exemption, at any time, any where. Period.
This really bothers me. I have a 3 month old, and we successfully refused any and all shots at birth. However, when trying to refuse vaccinations altogether, we were told that our little baby girl would no longer be seen as a patient of theirs. And after calling around to multiple pediatricians, it appeared that we had been "black-balled." So we began negotiations with our pediatrician. I was hoping to at least wait until she was a year old before any vax. He wouldn't agree to that, but then agreed to waiting until six months and agreed to spacing them out more. I'm still adamantly opposed to the Hep B vax. But now he informed us the longest we can wait is 4 months. I thought we had a good leg to stand on and would stand our ground based on exemption rights, but after reading that link, it's quite apparent WE HAVE NO RIGHT to exemption. We might as well roll up our kids' sleeves and pray to God they'll be protected from the vax. With our climbing illegal immigrant population, the state could easily show that for "the good of the community" we should be forced to have our kids vaccinated. I HATE this. My wife and I feel helpless. I'm hoping that at the very least, we can fight off the Hep B and HPV vaccinations.

Tilapia2006 - I cannot believe that docs would be so bold as to blackball their patients - that is like shooting yourself in the foot. If you are a part of any kind of insurance plan, they are getting paid whether you come to see them or now. I can't believe that a doc would not at least allow you to wait to get your daughters shots. I would fire your pediatrician and find yourself a good ND. When I started homeschooling I stopped taking my kids to well care checkups with our MD. I found that almost every time I took my kids for a well care checkup, they'd turn up sick within a few days. An ND can do the wellcare checks and won't push the immunizations. I have even heard that some NDs have a homeopathic protocol for "immunization" if you are still concerned. I personally feel that a lot of the stuff babies get is from daycare and you can avoid that if you don't both have to work. My oldest was in daycare and we were sick every two weeks from september to april. It was awful. My other two did not attend daycare and we only needed to go to the doc a couple of times by the time they were 10yo. I did vaccinate my older two up to kindergarten but my youngest has not had any shots since she was 2. I have had to fill out the exemption form several times for school but so far have not been denied access to anything because of lack of vacs. I think we are brainwashed into thinking we should take our kids to the doc every year - how many adults do the same? As long as you are watching your kids and looking for abnormalities, they don't HAVE to see the doc all those times. It is almost like we have usurped our right to raise our own kids. People were raising kids long before docs came along and started telling us what we should do. Like I said, see if you can find an ND (www.naturopathic.org) and take your daughter there for her checkups. If you feel compelled to vaccinate, try to wait until she is 5 and go slowly.

Please do not give up or give in. It sounds like you are in a small town or city? I go to one of the largest pediatric practices in a very large city and two of the Dr']s have given me all kinds of pressure/guilt/grief but we found one that just doesn't say anything anymore. She knows we care deeply about our children and treat them gently/feed them well. Frankly I think you can find a Ped that is not personally offended that you won't buy the drugs (vaccines). I have two children, the older one hit developmental milestones very early and most people that meet him are blown away by his intelligence.... but there is something wrong, that wasn't there before he was two and I gave him two shots of DTaP. Its hard to put a finger on, but there is something going on with him. He has a hard time figuring out where his body is, he is "floppy" and he has 20/20 vision but doesn't use his eyes well, and he has hearing problems. My younger son is bright and perky, but completely typical. I don't know what happened to my older child but I know he struggles and he is very ernest and sweet so when everything is so hard for him it is very painful for me to see. I continue to wonder if it was the DTaP as he had a fever and didn't act right for 6 or 7 days after each shot. If I could go back, I wouldn't cave to the pressure... and if my son's life wasn't easier, at least I would know it wasn't because of something I did.
BTW, I have friends who have given their kids ALL the vaccines and their kids are completely typical. It may be that your child could get the shots and have no problem.
Can you find a DO or Naturopath to provide care for your daughter? One of the Mom's at our school has 5 children from 16 years old to 8 yrs old and has never taken them to an MD.
Good luck, please don't give up. There might be another option that will open up for you and you won't have to go to these MDs that want to force you to immunize or drop you as a patient.
What if someone began an alternative organization to be "the go-to source for vaccine information", to counter the insanity of the CDC, FDA, USDA, Pharma-cons and all the other corrupt alphabet orgs?
There is no Constitutional right to exemptions that anyone can find, because our rights are inherent, inalienable and are not listed because we have ALL Rights! It is government that has NO RIGHTS because the purpose of the Constitution is to restrain government, NOT the people! We have been conned by this "twisted sister" that lays claim to be our master.
Personally, though I have no proof, I believe "Big Pharma," and the CDC are likely deliberately spreading infections, via experiments, or to purposely spread infections as a means of objectionable evidence against parents who do not want their children vaccinated.

Of course not. Your rights come from God, or nature, or whatever source makes sense to you. The fact that the state infringes on those rights, doesn't mean you don't have them. Don't ever let anyone tell you you don't have the right to make your own decisions. Having a gun pointed at you doesn't change the fact that you have intrinsic rights to life, liberty (autonomy), and property; it just means the police state behind the gun is doing its best to STEAL your rights. It may seem like an academic distinction when that gun (symbolic or otherwise) is being held in your face, but remember, the strongest prison is the one you create for yourself, and telling yourself you don't have a right gives the state more power over you than it could ever force on a free-minded person.

You do not HAVE to take your child to a Ped. You can find growth charts on line and developmental milestone charts.

I really appreciate all the supportive responses to my comment. It's a frustrating system out there. My wife and I have tried to find an ND, but we hit two walls. One, the distance from us (minor) and two, financial (insurance won't cover it and we simply can't afford out of pocket).
I don't mean to sound fatalist in regard to our rights, but the way I see it is, if the government can determine when or when not to allow our rights, then we don't really have them. If I'm faced with the threat of imprisonment for not vaccinating, then I'm forced to comply, because I will not be separated from my kids like that. And if child services threatens actions if I don't vaccinate, then I will comply because I will not have my kids taken away. So it is in that sense that I feel we truly have no rights in regard to vaccinations. Barring a revolution that overthrows our corrupt government, this is the way it is. I know I sound cynical, and I apologize.
The one ray of hope in all this, is that our 2.5 year old had all her vaccinations (we didn't know at the time), and not only is she healthy and normal, but she is excelling in many areas well beyond that for her age. The vaccinations thus far, have seemed to have had no ill effects on her. And my wife and I were both fully vaccinated youngsters (born in 1977, so a different vax schedule than today), and are exceptionally healthy people with high IQs and a history of advanced learning in school, so maybe (*crossing fingers*) we have good genetics that we passed on that will protect our youngest if we are forced to vaccinate. My wife also keeps the kids at home (no daycare), so that's a plus. But I just can't believe that the exemptions are pure smoke and the state can over ride them anytime.

Roll up their sleeves and give in? Don't do that-we need to show them that we dont want their poisons. Why do you need to have a pediatrician? Take the kid to the chiropractor-we are trained to diagnose and refer, and we can help with many childhood issues like asthma, sinus, allergies, earaches, digestion troubles... And we wont judge or exile you for not getting vaccines. Quite the opposite.
Tilapia2006, I have five children, ages 17 to 3. Three of them (the three youngest) have never had a needle touch them. I tell the doctor that under no circumstances will my children be vaccinated. They tell me the risks, I nod my head and use my backbone. I don't give THEM a choice. I am the MAMA. They are JUST the doctor. They are NOT God. If they won't see my children, fine. I'll be glad to not take them to the doctor at all.

I have been wondering for some time now, and I only found Dr. Mercola's site last winter...when Big Pharma (aka "government") was going to try to put a gag on the truth. Especially on this site, because it is so open to differing opinions and has quite a number of very informed individuals contributing. In fact, I've been concerned about Dr. Mercola's health and hope he can keep it. Remember Karen Silkwood???? And to the person who stated earlier that life is full of conspiracies. Of course it is and always has been....down to the smallest aspects of life and the family circle, and ever widening. "Conspiracy theory" is just a "tainted label" to make the general public not want to be associated with it. God forbid we be on the side of a bunch of goof-balls!! Some editor (not ours) was asleep at the switch in not catching the use of the subjunctive.
And Dr. Mercola's editor was also asleep in letting this Mixmaster gem slip by: "Today it is 1 in 150 births, and some estimate lower than one in 50, and still climbing." Can we make up our mind, please, whether it's lower or higher?
My younger daughter is due with her first child in 5 days. It's gaffes like this that make me hesitate to forward this information to her, as they color the content of the entire article.
