Some of those things are very cool and inspiring. I think 'proof that anything is possible' is a bit of a stretch, though. For example, no matter how much training I get I'll never give birth. :) Also, just because you CAN do a thing doesn't mean you SHOULD. Like drinking a quart of beer in 5 seconds, for example.
Oh, I don't know. I thought the beer drinker was right up there at the top with the trike jumper and the pen twirler.
An interesting video and proof of the versatility of the young but, what is the failure, injury, or death rate I wonder on the way to the top?
Some of these folks have Way too much time on their hands! lol :)
I enjoyed seeing these people doing unusual things that they trained to do over and over again. I am sure they took lots of falls but each was a learning experience. And as someone commented, more people die going to work or taking a shower than these athletes. So I hope that doing the unusual and doing it excellently is what humanity is all about and that mediocrity and incompetence will become out of style.
I got an adrenaline rush just watching most of this video
Amazing! Loved the huge hula hoop and the soccer ball curve at the goal. Realistically, I bet some of these people will be hurting when they age. Just the tremendous amount of physical endurance and strength needed to do some of these things have to take a toll on the body sooner or later.
Song is "Unchained Melody" first recorded by the Righteous Brothers"
Oh my love my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine
I need your love
God speed your love to me
Lonely rivers flow to the sea to the sea
To the open arms of the sea
Lonely rivers sigh wait for me wait for me
I'll be coming home wait for me
Very cool!! Although at least one of the video clips is not true. The girl being thrown up and through the basketball hoop did not happen. By the way, what song was that at the very end???? The melody was soooo familiar! Anyone??
It is the melody of Time to Say Goodbye (Con Te Partirò) by Andrea Bocelli
You may have also heard it on the movie Ghost, with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.
opera- but cannot recall the title right now. Te Deum?
All I could think of on that one was.. One slip and that net would break her fingers off. She would have to concentrate to keep her thumb in a closed fist, and even then her arm could still get on the outside of the hoop and do damage, or break. I agree, I think the girl in the hoop was fake as just practicing that would be way too dangerous. Other wise some of those were neat. Have seen some before.
I was inspired by the beer chugger! :) Hey but thats just me........
Good morning! I've been a subscriber to the newsletter for a long time, but have never read these posts .
letsbehealthy, that was an excellent way to point out the existence and expression of God; and, cluelessintacoma- I love everything you said, and how you said it-exquisite!
I think many people have negative thinking around "God", having been raised thinking that God is something outside of ourselves, and separate from us.
Actually Unchained Melody was originally recorded by Al Hibbler.
'accomplishments in training' in that video ' the beer guzzling' nullified it.
Feast your eyes and soul on *** & Rick Hoyt trilathalon adventures in TRAINING
I just saw this for the first time this week...My God what a commitment from a father!!!!

or this one
I guess the short name for Richard gets censored in this forum??
as the post above the name is replaced with ***?
That is funny!
Yep—the same thing happens to *** Cheney, even with a capital D!
We have here beheld the many gifts which God gave to others for themselves and others alike to behold. How gracious is our God! Oh how His wonders channel through us all!!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but hasn't anyone told you yet...there's no Santa Claus OR God?
Saying there is no God is like looking at a painting and saying there is no painter. It is like looking at a building and saying there is no builder. It is like looking at a book and saying there is no such thing as an author. It is intellectually impossible to look at Creation and say there is no Creator.
Just because you don't like God or want to be accountable to Him does not mean He does not exist.
Such an argument is not convincing to a non-theist, since it assumes from the start that the universe is a "creation" without considering alternative explanations.
It's also quite similar to the first three of Aquinas' "Five Proofs", thereby having similar flaws.
But really, arguments like these are pointless; no one will be convinced either way, everyone will simply be wasting their time and effort. Regardless of religion or lack thereof, we're all here and we're all human. One should be more concerned with a person's actions rather than their thoughts.
letsbehealthy : )
I'm not sure who is sillier -- people who think they can prove the existence of a deity or those who think they can disprove same. No doubt a theist can prove there is, to himself, and an atheist can prove there is not, to himself. There is no process by which the existence, or lack, of a deity can be proved, with any reasonable level of intellectual integrity, because the quantity in question is not observable. Neither hypothesis can be investigated. But, don't any of you get off your high horses. I enjoy watching the foolish jousting.
If such an argument begins to cool, I enjoy pointing out that "... and the light was separated from the darkness..." is exactly what the astrophysicists say happened, as the first event of the Big Bang.
Have a nice argument!
As for those negatively assessing the risks being taken, in the video -- anything truly worth doing is worth risking death -- like driving to work, taking a shower, playing the horn, or saving a child from a burning building. Strangely, the first two kill a lot more people than the last one. Actually, playing the horn is not a common cause of death, but even if it was some people would still find it worth the risk.
There is too a Santa Claus. Can there be gift, without a giver? Crap! Now you people have got me making ridiculous analogies.
Mike Brown, I salute you for believing in something. Me? I'm headed to the Unitarian Church to celebrate nothing in particular. (Not being nasty. The Unitarians I know will find that amusing.)
MikeM_203, atheism isn't news. It's been around for centuries. Your bashing of a thing close to another's heart is inexcusable.
You just do not get it.. This is not a religious site. The only reason to post that was to get attention, and start arguments.. Mission Accomplished.. I still pray, but I do not use it as a catalyst to start opinion fest. Have fun fighting.
