That's interesting... but what about technologies that allow to regenerate tissues and bones (when the body part, the organ, is still partly functioning/existing) without any need of surgery? Like hyperbaric therapy and Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields. It seems to me more simple, logical and risk-free to find ways to help the body to regenerate itself, each time it's possible, instead of replacing its injured parts.

I'm not sure this is a good idea - lab-grown organs and tissues, and regenerative medicine. Just because we CAN do it, doesn't necessarily mean we SHOULD do it. As a research tool, being able to create organs and tissues can teach us a lot, but to have it in my body? Perhaps not. Since I'm not in that situation right now where I would need an organ or tissue, I'm not qualified to give an opinion. Given human nature, I have serious reservations. I'm not all that trusting of medical people and scientists and sellers of these treatments and getting out of hand with this capability. Since so many people ARE willing to become guinea pigs and will happily embrace this technology and damn any possible consequences, I can take a watch and see stance and see how this pans out into a good idea or not. I'm doing the same thing with bio-identicals. As with all medications, there's an appropriate time and place. Most meds are more truly appropriate for a rather small segment of the population, than for the masses.

It strikes me funny that people are all for a technology that is obviously not intended, otherwise it would have been provided for by the Creator.  At the very least, I would be less alarmed if I saw a balance of people for this and of those who question what has been presented to them!  A society that just accepts whatever is put before them without asking, "WHY", "HOW", etc...has more to worry about than not having organs that don't regenerate.

The problem with longevity is the cost socially in providing for old people. Yet 70 percent of this planet is covered with huge oceans. China and India both have huge populations and starvation has been a bad problem in both countries. I suggest we have to make more efficient use of what we have. The oceans are not drinkable. They are a huge waste. We have a wasteland in Africa that spans half a continent or more. All it needs is water and sound engineering to bring it back to fertility. In historic times, a big shallow lake was on the western side of this wasteland providing rainfall. Re-establishing this lake might put that land back into productive use.Yet if we as a species would only cooperate and use an army of engineers I am certain all these problems would go away. For instance using the heat of the region in the form of solar furnaces would distill the ocean water and pumps could be used to put an artificial lake in place that would eventually bring the land back to productive use. Similar engineering works.

The technical problems with longevity are solvable. Basically we have a time clock that shuts us down. It starts shutting us down around the age of 27 to 29 years and continues until we die somewhere between 70 and 120. Stopping the clock is possible. Cancer cells stop the clock and live extended amounts of time in cultures. They live at least 12 times longer. Supplementing the endoctrinal glands output is a short term solution. Cutting back on radiation damage from various sources is another. We are basically dying of radiation poisoning from various sources. Radiation poisoning accelerates aging. The only technology for permanent immortality would be a machine such as a star trek transporter device that would restore a broken human body. This would basically work by using the matter in a body and restoring it to an earlier state. How you would do that without losing memory is beyond me.I know it is possible but beyond our technical knowledge.

Exciting but scary! What about the ethical questions this prospect raises; like how many humans can this planet comfortably hold and who are likely to be exterminated to control over-crowding? During the past 70 years the global population has risen from an estimated 2 billion to 9.5 billion today (I wonder who counts them) and with the prospects of eternal life we will be at risk of pushing each other off the edge! I wonder what the late Dr Skinner's research informs us about over-crowding. I recall that he did research on rat populations the results which were fascinating but equally as scary! 'Me thinks' I am living in the best of times!

The only people that end up with these kind of life extension techniques are the extremely wealthy. That's what it's really all being researched for, usually, lots of money.

Does this use a form of digital homeography whereby substances frequencies are captured and then imprinted in water or another substance or in frequency replays such as ".wav" or mp3 "songs"??? The reason I am wondering is because I have been experimenting with those types of imprinting through a library of approximately 6000 substances' frequencies.

Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Except for Dr. M being a self-confessed techofreak, I'm surprised he embraces this. Technology proceeds faster than wisdom and foresight can resolve.

Biotech is part of the criminal Pharma industry, and is highly polluting. Researchers may be sincere and innocent, but the power behind biotech isn’t.

One commenter mentioned ethics. In these times, we can be fairly sure where ethics are going to end up. This demands extreme caution, not wide-eyed fascination. It's typical of the Elite to seduce the people with multiple-edged swords. Witness the peril of wireless tech.

It's funny--the monster octopus cartel: banks/oil/petro-ag/food processing/consumer-orgy chemtox/Pharma-medicine works tirelessly producing illness and slow genocide, while another tentacle appears with the expensive miracle-cure for insanity. Kill you with one hand, "save" you with the other.

This smacks of Frankenstein medicine. Are we a heartbeat away from androids? Why not transfer your brain into one?

Obviously, this could work wonders for accident victims, for example. But like stem cell tech, the need/demand for this would be minimal if not for our health- and self-destructive way of life, which also threatens our source of life. This could become an excuse to care much less about maintaining health than we already have, and promises to exacerbate the population problem. Society should focus on these issues before resorting to such techno-wizard hocus pocus.
