The media in modern America is a cartel system. It is owned by a handful of giant corporations -- corporations that are in turn saddled with heavy debts.
This has encouraged them to cut costs wherever possible, while at the same time producing whatever material they think will sell the most and the quickest. And what’s more, since the media system has been captured by private interests, it has become nothing but a conduit for propaganda.
According to RT, author Mark Crispin Miller argues:
“Advertising and propaganda on one hand are antithetical to real journalism on the other ... In a true democracy people must have access to unbiased information in order to make reasonable decisions. That kind of thing is an anathema to the advertisers.”
