Hi, you asked if I could grow cold weather vegetables. I truly live in the Arctic (not sub-Arctic) and no agriculture is possible. We have maybe two months where the temperature will not fall below 0 Celsius, if we are lucky. One family in town has a small, heated greenhouse. I'm sure it costs them a lot to heat it as we have no wood to burn here. I don't think they grow much beyond chard and lettuce as well. I'm not in a financial position (yet) to try to build a greenhouse. I get jealous of people who can garden because I have no access to fresh organic veggies.

Thanks for the info about where to obtain beeswax and zinc oxide for the home-made sunblock. I live in Christchurch, New Zealand so hopefully when I check out the sites it will direct me to local retailers. A quick search of 2 local chemist shops came up zilch.

cheers, Honora

Hi there--I actually got to experience the effects of amalgam fillings in an unplanned but nevertheless pretty interesting experiment. Had about 8 fillings intially--one removed inapropriately--got very sick--brain fog, weight loss, memory problems to the poit where I couldn't remember what I wanted to say----thank God I was in my secand year in the PhD program--i would have never made it had it been my first.  Also restless legs syndrome, anxiety, difficulty breathing when lying down, depression and anxity alternated--but I kept it under control with adequate social support--unexplainable stomach pains--severe--but went away---digestion was not affected---6 m later severe TMD/TMJ developped--both sides swelled about half inch EVERYDAY--went down at night--only to return the next day. Ears hurt inside too--no ear infections--no toth infection--went to an ear and throat doctor in NYC who recommended antidepresents and a dental damn --said I clenched my teeth at night--NOT so!!--Oh, and the usual muscle relaxants. i did neither--sufferd foir a few years--thinking cancer--or some other awful disease--chiropractice helpped some--but it invariably came back. Struggled with infertility for a few years--finally an IVF worked--during pregnancy magically no TMD symptoms--gone!--my baby detoxified me!--poor thing. Then breastfeeding was equally blissful--no TMD pains.  I weaned her at 14 m and pains and swellign returned.  My detoxification program ended I guess.  By then i knew the amalgams needed to come out and I had them apropriately removed this time.  Within days the TMD pains went away for good--NEVER TO RETURN!!!---been TMD/TMJ free ever since.  It has been wonderful--but alas i still have lingering health issues from my past mercury toxicity---though they are now greatly improved---I am not completly myself but it is hadrd to tell how much is the mercury and how much the going crazy caring for and tryig to heal a special needs child.  I am on the usual methylation support, gluten free and dairy free, Omegas, Co Q10---B12 etc and soon to start AC low dose protocol chelation will also help i am sure.  i want to avoid the Alzheimer's my dad had in his 60's.

Anyway--YES--definately effects of amalgam were felt particularly after inappropriate removal---not felt while baby detoxified me-she is now suffering from a motor planning speech disorder along with low tone in the upper trunk area--and metabolic processing issues--autoimmune problems--etc----chelating her safely too...things are going well--but it was my amlagam fillings that  did all this to both of us----as we luckly did not vaccinate her--that would have definately put her in the severely autistic range--as it is she only had apraxia with soft signs and possibly dyslexia and ADD---but the overlap with ASD is significant--it is all a neurological disorder continuum---affecting the most vulnerable populations--the very young and the old--

best of health,

Thank you for the suggestions regarding my black thumb. Yep... I'm probably guitly of excessive watering and its opposite. I came from a family of gifted gardeners -- acres of beautiful produce, roses, gladiolias, etc. Me -- nada. And now I don't live anywhere near them and am at a high altitude to boot. I've actually taken a couple classes on gardening. My husband says I over-think things. He makes virtually no effort and plants thrive around him. I think he'll need to take the wheel on the garden and I can do maintenance or something. My daughter said I shouldn't touch the plants.
