The video above is a presentation by Tim Ferriss titled “How to Feel Like the Incredible Hulk.” He explains exactly how he conquered his fears of swimming, language learning, and ballroom dancing by questioning “obvious” guidelines and dogmatic teaching.

Ferriss explains three approaches -- first principles/assumptions, material over method, and implicit vs. explicit -- that you can immediately apply to your own lifelong goals, or lifelong fears, to become the new-and-improved you in record time.

Tim Ferriss was nominated as one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Business People of 2007.” He is the author of the bestselling book, The 4-Hour Workweek, which has been sold in 33 languages.

The three life principles he discusses in the video are ones that you can apply to any goal your are chasing, and any fear that is holding you back. As he said, most fears are based on false constructs and untested assumptions; in other words, ideas that you create in your own head -- or which you have been told and choose to believe.

Your brain is highly susceptible to your language, so please be very careful with the words you choose to use when describing yourself, your behavior or your ability to achieve your dreams. Make it POSITIVE when you are talking about the present or future.

And, as Tim Ferriss explained, always have the courage to challenge “assumptions” and “methods,” as these are mindsets that can unfairly hold you back.

How to Become the “New-and-Improved” You

Living with passion is really one of the most powerful strategies you can have to be happy and successful. Being actively engaged in pursuits that have personal meaning to you can really have a great impact on your mental, emotional and physical health. It can also free you up to take control of your health in mundane, yet crucial ways, such as having the time to prepare your own meals, using organic produce grown locally, and savoring every bite because you’re not rushing anywhere. 

Last but not least -- following your passion can empower not only you, but can help change the entire world.

If you are doing something just for the money, it will likely never make you truly fulfilled, and you will likely never be very successful with it. One of the major keys to success is to identify your passion and move toward it until you can do that full time.
