Implanting bags of saline or silicone into women’s bodies,
or breast implants as they’re know, are making a comeback
despite a lack of credible scientific evidence to show their
short- or long-term safety.
Further, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which
declared a moratorium on breast implants in 1992, is now considering
lifting all restrictions. These devices--largely a product
of intense PR and media stereotypes--are becoming mainstream
when surely they belong in the "Museum of Questionable
Medical Devices in the U.S."
