One out of every 50 Americans adults are now extremely obese, or are 100 pounds
or more overweight. This is a four-fold increase from the
1980s. While this condition was once considered to be a rare
condition due to hormonal abnormalities, researchers are now
blaming overeating and sedentary lifestyles for at least some
of the problem. Obesity and extreme obesity carry many related
health effects, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood
pressure and arthritis.
