If you want to get some insight into the ongoing debate over whether
or not sugar is bad for your health, then you should take a look
at the latest recommendations in the Dietary Guidelines Advisory
Committee report.
The conflicting report doesn't offer any recommendations to reduce
sugar from the average diet, yet six pages into the report there
is a detailed list on the dangers of sugar.
Sugar is Bad For You
The following arguments have been posed by nutrition experts:
-
There is a strong relationship between sugar consumption and
a deficiency of nutrient intake
-
A study revealed that people who got more than 18 percent of
their calories from added sugars had the least adequately nutritious
diets
-
Another study confirmed the sugar-obesity connection
-
The correlation between increased sugar-sweetened soft drink
consumption and a rise in weight gain was confirmed in yet another
study
"Experts" from the sugar industry disputed these findings
by claiming that there haven't been any studies to support the claim
that sugar is related to any lifestyle disease or increase in obesity.
