How to Enjoy What You Are Doing, No Matter What

In an ideal world, you would only have to do the things you loved to do, but reality is sometimes far from ideal, forcing you to deal with things that you’d rather leave for someone else.

Most successful people would agree that being able to do well on things you don’t like is essential for success, as consistent performance makes you stand out from your peers. So, how do you motivate yourself to not only get through it, but actually find some enjoyment in the process? Because remember, you’re more likely to perform well if you enjoy what you’re doing.

This Lifehack article offers six great tips that can help you find your sweet spot, no matter what you’re doing.

1. Look at the long-term benefit – Keep your eye on the future, and how this activity can benefit you later.

2. Find what you can learn from it – There’s always something you can learn from any situation. If you really can’t think of anything, at least it can teach you to be persistent no matter what, which is a valuable lesson in and of itself.

3. Think of doing it for someone you love

4. Enjoy your interactions with other people

5. Think and say something positive – Self-talk can make you or break you here. Focus on thinking and saying positive things, such as what a great learning experience this is, or how much you enjoy the people you’re working with, for example.

6. Gather with passionate people – Although you might hate the activity, others may be quite passionate about it. Whenever you can, choose to be infected by others’ positive energy.

Having a positive attitude is equally important when it comes to optimizing and maintaining your good health. Choosing to be happy is very easy to say but may be difficult to put into practice in the real world. Nevertheless, the benefits to your health -- both mental and physical -- are very real, but it will take some effort to get there.

If you‘re struggling with a negative attitude, one of the best and most effective natural treatments at your disposal -- the Emotional Freedom Technique -- has nothing to do with a one-pill-cure and everything to do with removing the cause or reason why you may be self sabotaging yourself with limiting beliefs.

You tend to manifest what you believe, and most of us have some pretty wacky beliefs that ruin our happiness on a regular basis. If you haven‘t yet taken advantage of EFT I would strongly encourage you to do so.

I am happier now then I have ever been since I do EFT on a daily basis.  I mention this since I know their are skeptics who don't believe in EFT so I want to indicate it does work.  I am on an email list from www.emofree.com .  I read weekly emails on how EFT has helped others in all areas of their life - try it on everything approach - and this has helped me to continue using EFT.

I also imagine that my body is completely enveloped in a white cloud which contains all positive thoughts and I am floating in this white cloud.   Outside of this white cloud is a black cloud with all bad thoughts and it is not allowed to touch my body since I am completely enveloped by positive thoughts.  There is however a white path that comes into my body which contains new positive thoughts.  When I think of a bad thought, I immediately switch my mind to think of a positive thought.  This worked for me.

It isn't as if I am not encountering difficulties in my life and thus being happy.  I am encountering much unusual difficulties. My dad died last year and his wife sold everything and moved back to the Phillipines with my Dad's million dollar estate without telling us.  My dad willed 1/2 the estate to his children upon her death but now no international law exists where her family has to give it up.  My mother's killer was just released from prison on appeal on a new law which affected testimony at the trial that may prove inadmissable.  I also dealing with FOC issues with my ex on my children and costing me tons of money.  So folks, it is how you deal with issues that makes a difference.

KAC,
I am so sorry to hear all of the nasty stuff happening to you.
Can you hire a Phillipino lawyer?
What is FOC?

I haven't thought about a Phillipino lawyer but the will was drafted by my father in Hawaii so this lawyer would have to be familiar with the laws in Hawaii.  I'll have to check into it.  I wrote my Dad's wife a letter but so far no response.  (Yes, it was a kind letter).

FOC = friend of the court.  I have primary custody of my 2 kids for 5 years now and my ex wants joint custody.  To obtain joint custody, you have to prove a "material change of circumstance" and he's indicating he has the kids 1/2 the time but didn't.  At times he did keep the kids overnight when I asked that he return them. He was going against my request and also telling me my kids didn't want to go with me.  I hired a lawyer so the total cost will exceed $6,000.  So far I paid $3,000 and we have a full day evidentuary hearing to take place yet.  I always tell people to work our their marriage if they can but in my case I couldn't due to verbal abuse.

Sounds a lot like self hypnosis.  I took a hypnobabies course when I was pregnant.  I loved it.  It definitely helped me to relax, let go and be more positive.  We did a lot of positive affirmations as well.

And all of the rest that you said, really sucks!!  I am sorry you have had so much to deal with and so much loss.  I pray for happier days ahead for you and your children.  I also hope you can do something about getting your inheritance.  Don't wait on checking into it.  The sooner the better.  Good luck.

KAC- That is the best endorsement to do EFT I have ever heard. It seems so time consuming but I can see a few minutes a day MUST be worth it. I also like the idea of the white cloud. Do you tap on issues you are dealing with, or have a list of general issues from the website?

Basically this article was saying find the good in any situation you find yourself in.  You can always build on it.

Mary, you are so right (as you usually are). And finding the good gives less weight to the bad, rendering it less potent. And the good tends to increase as you focus your attention on it.

I always try to whistle while I work or listen to the radio.  Sometimes it is hard.  But in life we have to get through the bad and rejoice the good.  And always thank God that we are here.

DizzyIzzy1 - try whistling by pursing your lips and sucking the air in instead of blowing it out. This is how I do it - seriously.

I am sorry to hear of your situation and I will pray for you.  I like the idea of the white cloud.  I need help in managing my time. I am a multi-tasker, not because I need to be, but my thoughts go a mile a minute. I can't finish one chore without stopping to start another one. It's driving me crazy!  I really need some help and ideas. I read Dr. Mercola and I try to practice EFT but my mind won't slow down long enough to tap and count. Can someone help me?

Betty

I was feeling sort of down when I got up this morning so I turned on my computer and the Mercola email was there.  I read this one and all the comments.  I am truly grateful for all the positive thoughts here and do thank all of you for them.  I am having a hard time trying to convince my husband to buy a house in a neighboring town because we are at the point where we need to downsize and have a smaller place.  Positive thoughts from all of you on this would be a blessing to me.  Good wishes to all of you who are in a not so good situation right now.  Better days will be here soon for you.  Thank you again and God bless.

JJ
