L-Carnitine Good for Type 2 Diabetes
Posted by: Dr. Mercola

The amino acid L-carnitine improves insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetes. The study used IV carnitine, but oral should work as well. In the study those who received L-carnitine experienced an 8 percent increase in glucose oxidation whem compared with the placebo group.

COMMENT: This is certainly a simple and safe enough adjunct to consider for diabetic control. It is also available as a prescription for those who have insurance coverage. The name is levocarnitine which is marketed by several companies. However, one should not consider this a miracle agent and should only use it after the basics which means reviewing Dr. Bernsteins Diabetes Solution book and liberal amounts of evening primrose oil, vitamin E, B6 and magnesium.
