Three people have died from eating pasteurized ice cream sold by the fourth-largest ice cream maker in the US. The deaths, and additional illnesses, were due to listeria contamination, a type of bacteria that has also shown up in hummus, spinach, and pasteurized cheeses in recent months – but not in raw milk, the government’s scapegoat.
