With levels of nitrogen and phosphorus from fertilizer runoff getting higher in lakes and streams, algae blooms are getting increasingly out of control. Despite government spending billions to tackle the problem, algae blooms are spreading globally, putting the water supply, marine life and humans increasingly at risk.
