An estimated 43.1 million Americans
of all ages report having arthritis, and of those an
estimated 7.8 million report that arthritis limits their
daily activities in some way, according to the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.
The data, from 1997, also indicate that
the number of people with arthritis has increased by 750,000
people per year since 1990, and the CDC predicts that
by 2020, 11.6 million Americans will be limited by arthritis.
