The US Department of Agriculture has a new web site that provides a breakdown of dozens of fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber and calories for more than 6,000 foods.
And best of all, it's FREE.
The database lists 117 nutrient categories for each food, including tryptophan, retinol, glycine and others that are not typically included on food package labels.
The data was collected from USDA researchers, food industry sources and other scientists.
You can look up your favorite foods ranging from lettuce to ostrich, choose a serving size, and see details about the 117 nutrients.

This is probably considered the finest and most accurate database of food nutrients on the planet and you get to use it for free, thanks to the US taxpayer.
Isn't the web wonderful?
