Post-menopausal women with "Type A" personalities,
often described as angry or impatient, or anxious/depressed
personalities may have an increased risk of heart disease.
Taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) removed the added
risk for women with angry personalities, but did not lessen
the risk for those with anxious/depressed personalities.
Researchers suggest that women with these personalities are
more likely to engage in unhealthy behaviors such as smoking,
drinking, eating high-fat diets and not exercising, which
can lead to an increased risk of heart disease.
