Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) commonly causes debilitating hand
deformities, however rheumatologists and hand surgeons, disagree
on how best to treat the condition.
According to a study, the two physician groups disagree significantly
on which indications call for different hand procedures, do
not communicate with each other often, and have little interdisciplinary
training. Researchers say further research should focus on
the outcomes of RA hand procedures and improving communication
between rheumatologists and hand surgeons.
