Learning how to use the variety of features google has to offer to search for useful information is just one of the reasons to take the google online tutorial.

If you’re like many people, chances are you’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg on google’s features and capabilities. The tutorial contains several examples and exercises you can try to inspire you to find amusing and helpful information.

The google guide provides benefits to a wide range of people and professions such as students, teachers, journalists, consumers, business people, scientists, Web developers and librarians. It also assists people in search of employment.

Some of the highlights of the tutorial include:

  • Calculator: Instead of using a piece of paper, you can use the calculator to add up a list of numbers, convert from miles to kilometers or evaluate some other mathematical equation.

  • Phonebook: Simply by entering a person’s name and a city, state, or zip code you will find the phone number listing for someone who lives in the United States.

  • Street Maps: Rather than visiting an online map-providing service, you just enter an address into google and find out how to get to your destination.

  • Travel Conditions: By entering the airport’s three-letter code followed by the word airport, you could find out about flight delays and weather conditions.

My favorite search engine, like many of yours, is google. I was one of the first few thousand people to start using it shortly after it went beta out of Stanford in the late ‘90s.

It was obvious that it was far better than anything else out there and the company has continued to excel. Their commitment to excellence, integrity and focus is a model for all of us who have Web sites.

Google has played a major part in transforming the way we find things in life. Many of us, however, are not aware of how we can improve our searches with the use of this fabulous tool.

Google has also introduced a local search feature that allows you to find businesses, maps, driving directions, street addresses and phone numbers for businesses within a few miles of your home.

This online guide is a wonderful resource and will only take up one-half to eight hours of your time, depending on how many sections you decide to skip and how many of the examples and problems you work through.

Most people spend about half an hour at a time and two hours total.
