Really Surfing the Net

The term "surfing the net" has been taken to literal extremes with the creation of a surfboard that actually allows surfers to look at their e-mail messages and surf the net while catching the next wave.

Innovative Features of the Intel Wireless Technology Surfboard

  • The laptop comes with a wireless Internet connection

  • Has several innovative features such as solar panels and a video camera

  • Dimensions of the board are 9 feet by 4 inches long

  • The laptop is protected from water by a waterproof casing with a silicone seal, crystal PVC cover and an aluminum gasket

  • The laptop weighs 2.3 kg and contains a wireless chip, a 1.7 Ghz processor and an 80 Gb hard drive

The Intel Wireless Technology Surfboard will be unveiled at the 2004 Intel GoldCoast Oceanfest and will get its first trial run in the waves by international pro surfer, Duncan Scott.

Dr. MercolaDr. Mercola's Comments:

Intel has gone and taken the joke of the Internet and made it reality by incorporating a tablet PC into a surfboard.

Now the joke of the Internet is a reality.

This surfboard accomplishes this amazing feat by having a Centrino-powered tablet PC sealed inside of it (hopefully they remembered to waterproof it). Power is provided by a solar panel.

Now of what possible use could this be? Do surfers really need to check their e-mail while waiting for the next wave? It's certainly an innovative creation, nonetheless.
