Kazakhstan is vying for the gold in Olympic boxing with the help of traditional nomadic cuisine. They are so convinced that this type of food will jumpstart their athletes' stamina that they are planning to ship horse meat and mare's milk to Athens.
The coach of the Kazakhstan boxing team, who was a gold Olympic medal winner in the light-middleweight division in Sydney back in 2000, attributed the plain yet energizing nomadic foods as an integral component to his own success. He stated that his father gave him horse meat and kymyz when he left for his trip to Sydney. He also admitted that he felt the meat and kymyz helped him win his medal.
Kymyz is described as a fermented mare's milk that is popular among the Kazakhs particularly as a cold drink during the hot summer months.
