U.S. Golf Open Lost Because of Easily Treated Psychological Problem

Australian golfer Geoff Ogilvy won the latest U.S. Open, beating out Phil Mickelson, who, if he had won, would have become one of only two players in the last 50 years to win three major championships in a row (the other player is Tiger Woods).

Mickelson, who many considered the favorite to win, needed a par to win or a bogey to have a playoff against Ogilvy. Instead, in an unexpected turnaround, Mickelson scored a double bogey, his only one in the tournament.

"I'm still in shock. I still can't believe I did that," Mickelson said ... "I'm such an idiot."

Other runners up at the U.S. Open were Jim Furyk and Colin Montgomerie. Ogilvy is the first Australian to win a major title since 1995.

Dr. Mercola Dr. Mercola's Comments:

First, let me say I am not a golfer. However, earlier this year, at the tender age of 51, I did play my first game ever and shot a 95, but that was for the first 9 holes.

The U.S. Open is one of the top golf tournaments in the world, and I found it most extraordinary that Phil Mickelson lost the chance to be only the second person in the last 50 years to win three majors in a row.

If Mickleson had someone tapping him before the last hole, he would have won; no doubt in my mind.

Why?

Saying he was an idiot is a CLASSIC prescription for disaster. There is no way he should have EVER made that comment. If he said it after the hole, I guarantee he was thinking about it during the hole. A few minutes of the energy psychology tool called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) would have won him the championship.

On a side note, skilled EFT clinicians can typically reduce most people's golf scores by about 10 strokes. To learn more about what EFT can do for your emotions and golf game easily, quickly and safely, take some time to review my online manual.

If you are a golfer or know someone who is insanely passionate about this crazy sport then I would encourage you to read the link below, which details more about how you can use this tool for golf.
