Tooth Regeneration -- You May Never Have to Use or Hear a Dentist Drill Again!

teeth, smile, toothThe next time you get a cavity, you might get tooth regeneration instead of fillings.

Materials scientists are beginning to develop solutions of chemicals that can actually rebuild decayed teeth. Enamel and dentin, the natural materials that make teeth the strongest pieces of your body, would replace gold or ceramic fillings.

Enamel and dentin are strong, long-lasting, and can repair themselves. However, they are also very complex.

But with the help of a calcium-containing solution of ions, scientists have been able to rebuild dentin and remineralize some parts of the teeth. Still, the complicated process is years away from being used in your local dentist‘s office.

Dr. Mercola''s Comments Dr. Mercola's Comments:

Your teeth are a powerful predictor of your overall health. When I have seen chronically ill patients with nearly cavity-free teeth, I am encouraged that they will likely get well quickly. If, on the other hand, their mouths are full of fillings and root canals, the prognosis is not nearly as good.

Ironically, though, many people who see a regular dentist to fix a cavity or other tooth problem end up creating even more problems. Most dentists try to fix a damaged tooth by using metal fillings (as has been done for over 150 years!) or root canals, and these processes are like plugging a leak in your kitchen sink with superglue; they’re not likely to hold up over time, and they completely ignore the underlying problems. Plus, they can be downright dangerous.

Tooth Decay is no Trivial Matter

Yet, most people regard a cavity, or even a root canal, as a minor inconvenience. Yet, if your tooth has begun to decay to the point that a cavity is evident, this is a major sign that disease-causing bacteria has begun to overpower your immune system, and your body.

And although conventional dentists are quite adept at filling in such cavities with neat little ceramic or, worse, mercury fillings, this is only a superficial patch.

You see, your teeth are actually not solid. They’re filled with microscopic tubules that, in healthy teeth, serve to carry nourishing fluids to the inside. A single front tooth, for instance, has over three miles of tubules inside of it.

In the case of teeth that have had root canals, the fluid disappears and in its place, bacteria colonize and can cause major illnesses in your body. Even antibiotics won’t help in these cases, because the bacteria are protected inside of your dead tooth. And when these bacteria migrate, via your bloodstream, to other areas of your body, they can cause:
  • Heart and circulatory diseases
  • Arthritis and rheumatism
  • Brain and nervous system diseases
“Dental caries reflect systemic illness,” says Dr. George Meinig, D.D.S. “Once a tooth gets infected and the cavity gets into the nerve and blood vessels, bacteria find their way into those tiny tubules of the dentin. Then no matter what we do by way of treatment, we're never going to completely eradicate the bacteria hiding in the miles of tubules.”

So the next time you have a toothache, which can become a cavity and which may lead to a root canal, don’t downplay its significance. This is a major clue that your body is not optimally healthy.

You’ve heard the saying that your eyes are a “window to your soul”? Well …

Your Teeth are a Window to Your Body

Dr. Weston A. Price, who was one of the major nutritional pioneers of all time, completed some of the most incredible research on this topic back in the 1900s, and it is still very much relevant today.

What he found, and documented in his classic book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, is that native tribes who were eating their traditional diet had nearly perfect teeth, and were almost 100 percent free of tooth decay. They were also almost entirely free of chronic diseases of the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, joints, and skin.

And they did not have toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste, or root canals and fillings.

But when these tribal populations were introduced to sugar and white flour, guess what happened. Their health, and their perfect teeth, rapidly deteriorated.

So while brushing and flossing -- modern dentistry’s mantra for healthy teeth -- is important, it is not even close to the most important factor for healthy teeth. What is most important is your diet.

“Hygiene practices are preventive, and help minimize the destructive effect of our "civilized", refined diet,” Dr. Meinig says. “But the real issue is still diet. The natives Dr. Price tracked down and studied weren't free of cavities, inflamed gums, and degenerative diseases because they had better tooth brushes!”

Eating Your Way to Healthy Teeth and Gums

Getting back to the topic of the article, teeth regeneration, this is certainly a step up from using toxic substances like mercury to fill your teeth. But it is still a type of a band-aid. If you want to have healthy teeth, and a similarly healthy body, you must start from the inside out, and that means cleaning up your diet.

When Dr. Price studied the native diets, he noticed some similarities in the foods that were keeping them so healthy. Among them:
  • The foods were natural, unprocessed, and organic (and contained no sugar except for the occasional bit of honey or maple syrup).
  • The people ate foods that grew in their native environment. In other words, they ate locally grown, seasonal foods.
  • Many of the cultures ate unpasteurized dairy products, and all of them ate fermented foods.
  • The people ate a significant portion of their food raw.
  • All of the cultures ate animal products, including animal fat and, often, full-fat butter and organ meats.
When Dr. Price analyzed his findings, he found that the native diets contained 10 times the amount of fat-soluble vitamins, and at least four times the amount of calcium, other minerals, and water-soluble vitamins as that of Western diets at that time. Their diets were also rich in enzymes because they ate fermented and raw foods (enzymes help you to digest cooked foods).

The native diets also had at least 10 times more omega-3 fat than modern diets and FAR less omega-6 fats. And as some of you may know, a diet that is lacking in omega-3 fats, and heavy on omega-6 fats from vegetable oils (which are consumed so heavily today) is a recipe for disaster.

So, if you want to eat your way to healthy teeth, taking a lesson from these previous native generations is essential. You should:
All of the brushing and flossing in the world will not give you the healthy teeth that the above steps will, so if you value your pearly whites, get started eating a healthier diet today.

If anyone has ever studied fasting they'll read how some people have not only healed broken teeth, but have regenerated new teeth.

I once had an abscessed tooth.  There was only a small cavity hole, but the gum at the root was swelling  a great deal and there was a lot of pain.  The dentist said it had to come out.  I asked if I had any other alternatives, and was told "No."

I've done a lot of fasting over the years, and have studied and read a lot about it.

Knowing what I know of fasting, I told the dentist "I know it sounds strange, but I want to try a fast."  Of course, she thought I was nuts.

I went home and did a short, less than a week long, grape juice fast.

All pain went away.  All swelling normalized.  The cavity healed completely.

That was at least 15 years ago, and the only time I ever have trouble with that tooth is when my diet gets super bad.  My tooth will let me know it's time to clean up my act.

I will make a note here, since I'm an experienced faster and know that most people aren't, to let anyone who is considering this know that fasting is not just "not eating".  Or just drinking liquids.  It is cleaning out the body while not eating or just drinking liquids.  If you don't clean out the body, while fasting, all those toxins just circulate and recirculate and you can come out harming yourself.

In other words, do some study first and do the fast right, or don't do it.

But whenever I have a tooth problem, that's how I heal it.

By the way, tea tree oil on a swollen gum, or abscessed tooth, will also do wonders.

You are taking great health risks by not having an abscess attended to by your dentist.  Prolonging dental treatment could be very dangerous to your general health, in particular to your heart and to your immune system.  Fasting will not, as you say, "regenerate a cavity."

In conversations with people in Siberia, who utilize alternative medicine frequently because conventional is often non-existent, they warned me against fasting.  One said he'd tried it and suffered tooth decay as a result.  I think if your fasting is short and infrequent, it may be doing you some good in certain ways.  Over the long term, I found fasting detrimental in numerous ways.  The first fast I did, of about three days, seemed to help clear out my system.  However, at that time my eating habits were really very "average" (i.e., awful).  Subsequent fasts of up to ten days also helped, but each time, my body responded differently.  Fasting probably provokes and exacerbates adrenal exhaustion, and that can lead to muliple problems.  I currently no longer fast.

In the book "The Complete Master Cleanse" by Tom Woloshyn he started the Master Cleanser immedietatly after he was told about a needed root canal.  Within days of fasting w/ no meds he returned to the dentist and no longer needed the procedure.  I think he still has his tooth.  So now we have two testimonials on this cure.  To the denstist he is right and we should error on the side of caution when it comes to bacterial infections, but if you have a few days to wait and see anyway, hey why not?  Fasting is safe and a phenominal health tool for most people, although if you suffer from adrenal exhaustion or malnutrition, or a few other poor health conditions then it it not a good time for a person to fast.  Also there are important rules to follow in regards to how long and how often.  The Master Cleanser is an awesome fast, I highly recommend the book.

Your both right, the infection should be removed from your body as soon as you can and not feeding the bacteria will lesson the pain of an infection. Makes sense that the reduction of food will help an infection heal because the excess food in that location for to long caused the infection in the first place, the problem with teeth is there is probably a defect in the tooth or bone that retains the food now which opens the body up to more problems, you can be very diligent with your diet and limit this from being a problem, but fixing the food trap will only make your life a lot easier. Now this being said just because you may go a few years without pain doesn't mean the infection isn't progressing under the radar. I've seen an infection take 26 years to cause a patient pain, he had been hit 19 years prior to me seeing him that gave the bacteria a place to hide in his tooth(infection from trauma happens all over the body) and when teeth die from trauma their death can be very sporadic as far as timing goes.  Because there is no food being stuck down in a whole in the tooth the infection usually progresses very slowly but the remaining nerve tissue and blood vessels become the food. Long story short, he lost four teeth instead of one and also lost part of his jaw. Don't get me wrong, I still believe the diet is the best tool for health, but once there is a hole in your body for bacteria to hide from your immune system this must be addressed otherwise the bacteria will get you. It may take 26 years but they are going to win the war, it's just up to us to win all the battles.  Eat a balanced meal, make sure your water is slightly alkaline and remember even penicillin is bad for you if you take it all the time.  In fact everything is bad for you if the word constant is put in front of it!!! If there is damage to your body, get it fixed and please know that your diet caused the problem, if you can tear up what God gave you how can you expect a dentist do better work than God.

Remember folks, that these will be manmade chemicals to cause regeneration being put into your mouth. They thought mercury was safe initially.

For years dental protacol has followed the standard  way of profit above health.  It is good to see research heading toward actually healing dental problems, not just coverup solutions that lead to more problems down the road.    In this regard I would like to point out two other pertinent articles.

The first is about a Chinese microbiologist  researching herbs that will stop tooth decay and his finding tha licorice root will do just that http://www.today.ucla.edu/campus/080123_lollipop/

The second is a study form the University or Edmonton about the invention of an ultrasound device that will cause teeth to regenerate.

Thank you, Cheryl, for this information!  It is really nice to know about licorice root--which I have incidentally just started taking to help with adrenal exhaustion, which in turn may have been the cause of my recent tooth decay.  The second site provides me more hope for recovery of what I've lost!

Thx for these very helpful websites..well they would be..BUT when I went to both these websites..it said "we're sorry there is no website to match your entry" and "this page is not found".   Looks like the "powers that be" don't  like the thought of losing dental income huh?  Kinda like the websites to suggest cleaner cheaper alternative forms of fuel. Those websites are.shut down overnight too.

The good news is..if they shut down these sites, this stuff must really work huh?  :)

Dr. Weston A. Price noted this among "primitives" almost 70 years ago.It was ,and is, directly related to nutrition!
