to imagine a world with a weapon that could shut down telecommunications networks, disrupt all power supplies, and fry all of the enemy’s computers, yet leave all surroundings intact. This ideal weapon would be able to catch any enemy in his track but never harm or even touch him. Is such a weapon possible to create?
It absolutely is -- and it has already made its home in America. HPM (high-power microwave) weapons, also called radiofrequency (RF) weapons, can travel at the speed of light without any visible discharge. More than 20 countries now have programs to develop some type of RF weapon.
Two different HPM weapons have been produced: ultrawideband and narrowband. The key difference between the two is that the ultrawideband weapon radiates over a broad frequency range with relatively low energy as opposed to the narrowband weapon, which can produce a single, or a close cluster, of frequencies and a very high power.
The so-called e-bombs can damage just about any type of unprotected electronic equipment, and experts are beginning to wonder what will happen if the technology falls into the wrong hands.

As many of you know, I am fascinated by new technology.
This development promises to help decrease the death toll by completely crippling the targets electrical support. This would literally devastate the enemys ability to fight a modern war.
It appears to have similar potential to rapidly end the war as the bomb used in Hiroshima, but without the enormous cost of human suffering and infrastructure devastation.
What the article does not mention, however, is the possible affect this weapon may have on human health. While the device likely would not kill people upon detonation, two billion watts of power that would obliterate electrical circuits would likely have incredibly devastating affects on the human brain, which also functions with biological electricity.
If this topic interests you at all then I suggest you read, America's New Secret Weapon, an earlier article that I posted on the HPM weapons.
