Diabetes Drug Rezulin Finally Withdrawn From The Market
Posted by: Dr. Mercola
March 26 2000 | 1,243 views

The diabetes drug Rezulin was withdrawn from the market on Tuesday following a request from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The drug, which lowers blood sugar in diabetics, has been linked to potentially life-threatening liver failure in some patients. Rezulin had generated revenues of $625 million in 1997 and $748 million in 1998, but Warner-Lambert expected sales to fall to $400 million this year due to safety concerns. There are currently about 500,000 patients taking Rezulin.
